served on-tap @ Wilhagan's, Tuscaloosa, AL, into a pint glass
This beer is good on-tap. Period. It has everything you want in a pilsner: refreshing mouthfeel, light grain profile, sharp hops.
The appearance is darn near perfect: brilliant clarity, two fingers of soft white head.
The beer smells and tastes like a no-frills Czech pils. The hops are like cut grass, the soft grainy malt flavors add a bit of sweetness, and the whole thing finishes dry.
There isn't much to say about this, really. The bottles are underwhelming, but the draft version is quality stuff. A great session candidate.

On draught in The Old Punchbowl, Booterstown, Dublin. It's served in glass tankards, light gold in colour with a thick white head. The Pilsner Urquell has the mouthfeel of a good lager but has extra notes of hops, malt and sweet breads in both the aroma and taste. A refreshing and uncomplicated beer, it ticks all the boxes and gets it right. I've also drank the cask pulled Pilsner Urquell and I would rate it higher than draught keg version with less carbonation and a greater depth of flavour.

This to me is the epitome of a Czech Pilsner. The color is a bit darker than other Pilsner beers, but that is not a bad thing. I found these babies in a four pack of tall boys, which I found as a nice surprise. I have drank this beer numerous times over the years, but since I found this in cans, i thought I would give this one a review. Its got a bit of that skunk, but that is what you expect from this beer. I was turned on to numerous other beers after trying this one years ago and it proved that there was other and better beers out there beyond what the American big guys were producing. Still among my favorites and the review is probably a bit higher than it should be but its a solid beer and if you can find this four pack of tall boys you should give it a go. The price is reasonable and the beer is high quality for the style.
