Had this on 2012-11-07 in Danville, KY. from the "new" cardboard pack and refrigerated shipping. Had this again on 2013-12-21 from a 16.9 oz can with a best-by date 6 months from now. It definitely tasted better than when I last had it in bottles so I amended my comments and ratings accordingly.

A - Very clear golden yellow with a 2-finger firm white head and mild-moderate lacing.

S - Bread, spice, grass, citrus. Quite pleasant and fresh.

T - Much like the smell with bread, grass, mineral/suphur. Much bolder and not skunky like the brew I gave up on years ago. Flavors continue into the moderately-lingering and tasty bitter aftertaste.

M - Light and smooth body and medium-high carbonation give a pleasant firmness and then a crisp finish.

O - OK. They've won me back. Very satisfying for a 4.4% brew. We did a Pils tasting on 2013-12-21 with this, Troegs Sunshine Pils, Stoudts Pils and Victory Prima Pils. This was most-similar to Sunshine Pils and about as good. I like the Prima Pils' bold hops flavor a bit more, however, it comes at the price of 1% more ABV. I like to watch my calories so Sunshine Pils is a staple in my fridge but they stop making it every year in August. This Pilsner Urquell, at the same ABV with as satisfying a taste, will get me through the winter until Troegs starts back up with Sunshine.

Pours a one finger white head. Lots of lacing. Golden body.

Grainy and metallic smell to it. Also plenty of skunk, despite it being in a can.

Lots of grain and skunk on the tongue. Low hop bitterness through all those grain notes, and no malt presence. Skunky, bitter aftertaste.

Watery, but decent carbonation.

Heard decent things about this pilsner, but what I got was a mess. Even though it was in a can with a best by date of April 2013, there was a lot of skunk notes in it. Lots of grain notes too, similar to an adjunct. Not a good pilsner.

Re-review on July 31, 2014. Poured from a 500ml can, best before date of December 22, 2014.

One finger white bubbly head, golden copper body.

Slight honey and fruity notes on the nose. Bit of sweet leafy hop note.

Bready and caramel notes on the tongue, followed by sweet fruity and honey notes. Decent bitter and dry aftertaste.

Medium body, nice amount of carbonation.

Decided to try it again while deciding what to buy at the liquor store. Glad I did it, I suppose the can I got 1.5 years ago was a bad one. Now a pretty nice tasting and refreshing pilsner. Well done.

Golden and somehow clearer than water. Pilsner flutes were designed to accentuate the beer’s color, clarity and carbonation. An inch of pure white frothy is replenished by rising bubbles.

Slight skunk, lots of sweet honey, saltine crackers, Subtly spicy, herbal nose, maybe cilantro, crushed black pepper, a whiff of grass blades.

Honey, saltines, grassy, earthy, dried spices and herbs. bitter salad greens, slightly musty grain, just-baked bread loaf, hint of dried lemon shaved onto bitter salad greens. Black pepper swirls before a more malty-sweet, balanced finish.

Light to medium-light in body with mild massaging carbonation. a bit of snappy bitterness at the finish has you reaching for another sip forthwith.

Clear, gold yellow, leathery acidic smell. Head poor, fast diminishing, white. Hops, orange and cereals. Spicy and anise in aftertaste. Sour and bitter, moderately lasting, but also refreshing. +herbal, ingredients from clear fields and pastures, - watery. All in all, very good beer, i prefer in summer.
