Can purchased in a Saigon supermarket and appears to have been brewed by SABMiller Viet Nam, so may not be fully indicative of the true Czech recipe.

Pours a very light golden colour with an impressive white head that disappears very quickly, leaving no lacing. Aroma actually includes elements of a Czech pilsner, with a real Saaz or closely related hop, but unfortunately there are elements of adjuncts as well. Given my location I would assume rice, but may also be corn - but has that "sweetness" in aroma that doesn't imply 100% malted barley. The flavour is very clean and crisp, but lacking any depth or complexity. I can't get much beyond the non-barley sweetness, but there is a hint of hops in the finish.

By far not the worst beer I've had this past week, but not one I would ever choose if in Europe or North America.

Given to me from a friend after her brother came back form The Czech Republic.
A= Opened without much hiss but still looks like its got great carbonation. A smaller head but it's very very thick and bubbles rise are rising from the bottom to constantly replenish it. It's a golden yellow color. Looks great
S= Interesting enough it does have an odor. Not expected from the style. Lots of adjunct smell comes through and seems to be the perfect balance of bitter and sweet in the odor.
T= Interesting. It actually does have quite the flavor. It's all adjunct flavor but its flavor. There's a quite noticeable butteriness to it and a small hop bite at the end. Tastes very grainy to me but I definitely love it.
M= High carbonation. Somewhat light.
D= Very High. I like this beer a lot. Maybe because I'm czech by heritage but I actually really enjoyed the taste. Very nice.

500ml Bottle from a Prague supermarket (39Czk):
Clear, dark golden with a 0.5cm, foamy white lacing on top that remains fairly constant.

Sweet & earthy malts with some light, grassy hops & citrus. There is some biscuit and faint caramel along with some spice & bitter hops.

Malty with a sweetness & an earthy flavour initially. There is some spice & bitterness from the hops & a little grain as well. The beer doesn't overpower & faint butter.

Smooth with a light medium body & good carbonation that gives the beer a lively feel. Crisp and clean taste with a wet, moderately bitter finish.

A decent Czech pilsener although certainly not the best the country has to offer. It was enjoyable without proving anything too special, coming through with a mellow and well-balanced taste that made it quite an easy beer to drink.

Had this on numerous occasions while in Praha, along with Pilsner Urquell, and i couldnt tell them apart, both average.

50cl servings in standard gambrinus glass.

A- Golden in colour, soapy rocky 2 finger head that disappates quickly to a crown. lacing is minimal to average.

S- Um, how to put it, doesnt smell fresh i guess. I bit skunked but not totally, lots of saaz hops, and some bready malts, but not that lovely fresh bread smell.

T- Lots of hops bitterness, but expected it to be drier and crisper in the finish, it seems to try, then gives up to a watery finish.

M- seems a bit soaper than urquell, but low carbonation and lifeless still.

D- Did a taste test with this an Urquell in a Praha pub, and couldnt tell them apart. Just not a fan of any Bohemian lagers i have found, but the dark stuff is a different story.

Clear dark golden colour with thick foamy white head. Malty nose. Aroma is sweet soft malts with fruits. Flavor is soft malt and hops. Dry long-lasting hoppy finish. Medium carbonation. A typical easy to drink Czech Pilsener and a very good one at that, but a few notches below Pilsner Urquell.

Draft, St. Petersburg, Russia. A bit more substance after all the Russian lagers I’ve been swilling. Good fluffy head that leaves a little lace. Golden pilsener color. A bit of extra sweetness, but the European hop profile makes a valiant effort to balance it.Still, a great pilsner beer smell I could pick up from two feet away made a good first impression on me.

Appearance: Golden, honey-colored; medium head; fairly long lasting; good lacing

Aroma: Not a lot of aroma; slightly grassy, biscuity and light hops

Taste: Juicy malt on start; quickly turning to slight bitterness; slightly dry, slightly bitter finish; not bad at all; pretty well balanced; good for a Pils, which is not my favorite style

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Half litre bottle. Poured into HB flute. Big foamy head from half the bottle but it went fast. Bronze, copper colour. Nutty smell, definate saaz hops in there as well. Clean, crisp taste. Some mushroom and parmesan cheese. Slight sweetness gave way to a bitter after taste. Normal czech beer carbonation. As it tastes so natural you could drink a few of these. Nice czech pils, no suprises but thats not a bad thing.

Poured from a 0.5l bottle into a branded Staropramen mug.

Appearance: Golden and translucent with almost no head. Typical Czech pilsner.

Smell: Sweet and grassy with citrus smells.

Taste: Kind of flat. Faint grassy, hoppy, and citrusy notes.

Mouthfeel: Flat and carbonated. Nothing special.

Drinkability: Pretty good. Nothing too special. Something I would try again but nothing I would go out of my way to find.

I just found my notes on this one.

I really thought I was back drinking american macro swill when my buddys friend who was staying me in Prague suggested this to me.

Its yellow and fizzy just like miller lite and offers no real flavor. Like the reviewers before me said 'its just empty'. Flavor is grainy and nothing like other Bohemian pilsners I had. Mouthfeel is watery and seems overcarbonated.
