I always stop by McNeil's for a couple of growlers when driving from VT or NH back to NYC. I'm really enjoying this growler of IPA I picked up this time.
Yeah, it's not exactly what some people think of as an IPA. Unlike many a U.S. micro-brew, the hops are not upfront and sharp (which can be great as well, of course). Rather, this is a UK style cask IPA with more subtle hopping. Best of all, the taste is raw, woodsy, unfiltered and totally pleasing.
The beer looks like it tastes. It appears unfiltered, with a complex copper tone. The smell is musty, and like the taste, conjurs up old-world ale images.
Well done guys, keep it up. I wouldn't change a thing.
