The idle rich is a prototypical irish bar, with dark wood, beer paraphenalia on the walls, and high-backed booths. It has a nice but small patio outside which is good for people watching if a bit too close to the busy road. The service is good, although a seemingly constantly rotating waitstaff leads to some servers with less-than-stellar knowledge of their product. The selection is very good in bottles and decent on draft. Not a large draft selection but they rotate them well and have some good choices. The food is far better than has a right to be served in a pub. The fish & chips is excellent and many of the dishes are as much art as consumables. The prices are a bit high but you are in the middle of uptown so not so surprising there. All in all, a very solid choice, particularly for a Friday late lunch heading into an early weekend.

A great place to escape to and experience a Irish pub in Dallas. Whiskey selection is one of the best anywhere but the beer selection is usually respectable. They do try to have the "better" craft beers on hand but at times miss with their choices. The cheese board is my wife and myself's favorite menu item as well as the calamari. Brunch is also a viable option or a solid patio experience. Late night crowd has a bit of "douche bag" quality but everything else balances out the experience to make it worth a visit.

This place sucks. It is for tourists. It is not a beer bar at all. This is the first review I have written on BA; I saw how high of a rating this place had and I had to do something about it. Fat Tire and Hogarden are the most sophisticated beers they carry. The bouncers and bartenders have a terrible attitude b/c they have to deal with assholes all day. I used to go here right when I turned 21 but quickly learned the whole McKinney/Uptown scene is for douches and unhappy people. If you are a 21 year old girl who wants to go out and have a bunch of drunk dicks hit on you all night this is your place.

Stopped by the first time as part of a Dallas pub crawl. Nice dimly light, dark wood, Irish bar. Plenty of seating, plus a patio out front (although too hot to enjoy this trip I could see this being a great place to sit and "people watch" in cooler weather). Beer selections was fairly impressive, although when questioning our server on the seasonal offerings she had difficulty remembering the details. All the tap beer was fresh, even tried a couple of bottles and they were good too. Food was decent and the prices were reasonable. Well worth checking out.

I stopped in while in Dallas on business.

The English pub style atmosphere is warm and comfortable. It's a large, varied space with interesting seating options, dark woods and beer paraphernalia. There's a large, rambling bar along with lots of tables. They've got English bar billiards, a dart board and a couple of TVs for entertainment. We were there around 6 PM on a Tuesday night and the place was very busy.

The tap list is a bit more than you'd normally find in an English pub. It has most of the usuals such as Guinness, Stella, Smithwicks, etc. but it also has some Belgians (Chimay & Maredsous) and a few good American beers. I went with the English spirit and had a couple of Wells Bombardiers. They were very fresh.

The Idle Rich, along with the Blackfriar and Ginger Man, make for a decent pub crawl.

interesting place - about 2 blocks from the Ginger Man and by no means on the same beer platform.

Even still, this place was pretty sweet. It has the look and feel of an Irish pub injected with some generic belgian-ness. The interior is huge, dark and woody. The outside area has a number of tables that look out onto the main drag.

There seemed to be about 15 taps with a couple of random beers from Franconia that we settled on. All of the Belgian stuff (chimay, karmaleit) was pretty common and so were the obvious irish/english choices.

I liked this place but you might as well double your intake at the GingerMan and maybe just stop here for one.

I have been to the Idle Rich many times before, but mostly on the weekends. My wife and I decided to go last Thursday evening when the weather really turned positive for the DFW area. It was about 70 degrees out at night so we decided to hit a patio. The Idle Rich it was.

I enjoyed a beer I haven't seen anywhere else in Dallas (Tripel Karmeliet) and it was served into a Tripel Karmeliet glass which I was very impressed by. My wife was drinking Tito's and soda.

Service was exceptional this particular night even though there were almost no open tables. It was not crowded, but lively and fun. No loud music either like Blackfriar across the street. Atmosphere was great.

Food was also ridiculously good. My wife enjoyed a vegetarian burger and I had a club sandwich which was adequate. The burger was incredible.

I really think the selection tends to be German/English, but the amount of Belgians is impressive as well. One of the better spots in Dallas to grab a good beer and good food at the same time. Staff was knowledgeable and very friendly too.
