EJ's is located in the small town of Baden, off of Highway 8 about halfway between Kitchener and Stratford. It's housed in a lovely old hotel and features an English-style wooden interior and outdoor patio, both with ample seating. As I was merely passing through for a pint, I chose to sit at the smallish bar off the main dining area.

My server, Melanie, was extremely attentive and offered good suggestions when I vaguely described what sort of beers I prefer. After getting a few tastes of some local micros, I eventually settled on a Mad Tom IPA. The beer was fresh and served in matching glassware, and I was a tad surprised by the generous serving size. Temperature was perhaps a tad cold, but not offensively so.

Of the 19 taps, 10 were dedicated to local craft offerings like Railway City, Side Launch, Wellington, Muskoka, etc. Of the remainder, a few were macros and imports, while there were two ciders offering for the gluten averse. Bottles were mainly fizzy lagers.

Didn't try the food, although it looked like a mix of German and British-inspired cuisine. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night. The previous reviewer mentions a hand-pull, but I think he was duped by one of those faux Fuller's ones that plague Ontario.

Worth stopping in if you're visiting Castle Kilbride, or if you want a higher end pit stop while on the road. Reminiscent of the King Edward in Ilderton, but without the cask offerings.

What a gem, this is a bit out of the way, way out of the way unless you are looking for it. It is a English inspired hotel setting, lots of wood, painted tin ceiling, wooden bar. It is some worn down looking or worn out but it has character. Along with Character it has beer, 14 taps and one cask conditioned hand pull. The handpull was Fuller's ESB and it was lively and fresh. Did not have time to sample the others which I was told rotate all the time. I noticed some Canadian Macros as well as Guinness, Harp, Hoegaarden, Bass, a cider, etc. Will definitely make a point to stop when I can soak up some more character and beer.
