Pours a bit hazy, golden syrup, with a half-finger of head, and some sticky lacing.

Sweet limeade and a slight astringency hit the nose, first. Hops and malt swirl together in a way that elides one another. There's a grainy-ness I can't quite put my finger on . . . wait, I've got it -- it's pancakes!

Yum! Very sweet, very bitter. Cotton candy, sweet lemon tea, rock candy, and lots of lingering grapefruit and orange-zest bitterness on the finish.

Medium- to full-bodied, smooth. Dry and bitter finish.

Right up my alley for a IIPA. I'm placing this alongside my other favorite sweet/malty IIPA's, Hopslam, Double Crooked Tree, Great Lakes Chillwave (Alchemy Hour), and Evil Twin Molotov Cocktail. It might score a bit lower than those legends, but definitely fits the bill for a delicious, sweet and malty IIPA. The one drawback might be the ABV; you definitely know you're drinking a near-10% beer. But I like this particular alcohol flavor.

(Other fabulous sweet IIPA's to mention are Sixpoint Hi-Res, Founders Devil Dancer, O'So Lupulin Maximus, and Dogfish Head 120 Minute.)

Way sweeter than you'd expect from an IPA, provided this is a Double IPA. The bottle brags about "MASSIVE IBU's" but the bitterness is a slight aftertaste. This is more like an amber than an IPA.
All said and done, however, its a decent beer. Its got great color, holds a great head and despite having a relatively high ABV its not astringent in the slightest.
