I new one to me tho my friend says I have had this before. A bit pricey here in NY but this 22oz has an eye catching label and good information about the brewery and the beer on the back.
Great bright orange color with a persistent, clingy white head. Slightly cloudy which shows if hasnt had all its proteins filtered out and good steady carbonation.
Aroma is all citrus at first - then some funky phenols and higher alcohol note blast in and make this not so pretty smelling.
Flavor is terrific for a dbl IPA - a bit harsh maybe for some but strong hop flavors front to back with good malt heft backing it all up. Malt flavors could be more integrated and complex but this just may be one of those double IPA's that ages and balances out nicely with a year or 2 of age.
Finish is not rough like so many DIPA's and the lingering bitterness is not harsh. Alcohol warmth is subtle but there and the mouth feel was just right to me - full but not heavy and full of contrasting sweet and sharp hop flavors.
A very good and near great DIPA.
