At Left Coast Brewing Co. we pride ourselves on being one of the pioneers of Double IPA style craft beer. This hop monster uses Premium American 2– Row and a touch of light crystal malt to create a solid malt foundation. Five different Hop Varieties are used in the Hop Juice. It spends two weeks dry hopping in fermenter contributing to its great hop aroma. Starts out sweet and finishes with the crisp bitterness of a Double IPA. This drinkable blend will have you HOPPING till nights end.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Blonde with 1 finger of creamy bone-white head. Crystal clear with moderate carbonation.

Tangerine, dank, pineapple, honey, and candied lemon.

Dank and pine sap. Apricot, candied orange, and honeydew melon. Honey and candy sugar. Finishes with touches of peach, zesty florals, and pine resin.

Medium bodied, smooth, and juicy with a medium-light bitterness.

Hoppy with a low bitterness. The malts are fairly balanced. The 9.7% abv is well hidden.

Bought from Tamuras $6.99 22oz.
Clear golden amber color
Medium carbonation
Medium mouthfeel
Strong hops flavor, but not overly bitter. Fairly smooth taste does not show the high alcohol so must be careful when drinking.
Overall a good beer. Not really my style so probably would not buy again, but it was great to try.

Horrible. At Least for an attempt at an IPA and a double IPA at that. Huge caramel malt at the front of the tongue and you just don't recover from it. Horrible.

Don't understand the bad reviews. For being almost 10abv, this beer pulls it off with amazing grace. Yes, it's malty but the piney bitter of the hops displaces most and leaves a pleasant afterglow. Very nice! Very drinkable....too drinkable. I'm going to have to hide the rest for the night. Salut!

Pretty lame attempt at an IIPA. Smells weird, and the taste follows. Oddly malty for a double IPA; certainly not the hop-bomb one expects from the style. Good carbonation; not altogether terrible tasting, but certainly not a beer I will ever get again. Do not mistake Left Coast for North Coast, as I think I may have when choosing this beer.

Poured a cloudy deep orange with minimal head. Quite bitter, definitely west coast style DIPA. Good mouthfeel though. The price is right but mediocre overall at best. There are far better options out there.

Poured on tap at the tasting room in San Clemente. Nice mix of cut grass, resin and citrus peel smell. Good balance of flavor with a hop forward taste and feel

APPEARANCE - 2FH that lasts, carbonation, light, clear, foamy, lots of lacing, amber.

AROMA/SCENT - Hops, citrus, pine.

TASTE - Hops, nutty, pine.

MOUTHFEEL/PALATE/TEXTURE - Carbonatin, dry, lingering, astringent.

VALUE - $8 for a 12-oz bottle, OK.

OVERALL/DRINKABILITY - It was OK, but Left Coast doesn't stamp a brew date. Unprofessional!

No bottling date. Aroma is fairly sweet, with bready, caramel malt undertones and floral, lightly citrusy hop notes.

Flavor is similar, with a fairly bitter, earthy finish that is somewhat harsh as it lingers. A little overly sweet and not enough flavoring hop character.

Look: its a little cloudy but still not overly dark or light just right for the DIPA
smell: great smell the hops are ever present and the aroma is strong but not discouraging
taste: smooth, bitterness isnt too bad
Feel: not sure new to this.
overall: i think a 4 is on point for the nation seeing how its the the best ive ever had but i would drink it again.

Forgive me for i am new to this and still have much to learn but as a lover of IPAs this one is pretty good i will say after researching the hops in this one (theres 5 of them) i can say that ive only had a couple of beers with some of these hops not the exact mixture. But i do enjoy it

Purchased in Ellsworth, ME while on vacation. Poured into a wine glass. Pours a hazy copper color with a finger of off-white head that leaves some lace. Smell is of pineapple, caramel, malt and some citrus. Taste is very malty with some tropical fruitiness, sort of like the taste of the juice from canned pineapple. Average bitterness to balance out the malt. Mouth is fairly full bodied, heavy. Overall, not too bad, but could benefit from more fresh hop flavor and a lighter body.

Medium amber and clear. Head a few fingers high. Medium-weight, with some bitter shellac left across the tongue. Pine resin is most dominant among the bitter flavors. Mild citrus and pale grains assert shortly thereafter. Malts beneath are like caramel in their sweetness, but blunted by the bitterness that pours from the hops. A little bit of stick, of chew, of tack. Generally lean drinking experience masks the 9.7 abv. Dangerously drinkable? I really dug it.

Good balance of hops and malt but still not enough to take away from the warmth of the high abv. A few spicy notes give it a distinct flavor though. Extremely clear

Pours a hazy golden-amber with a foamy tan head.

Nice lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, tropical fruit, earth, and slight herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with sweet citrus juice, citrus zest, tropical fruit, berry, and slight herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. Decent level of carbonation with a crisp taste.

Nice hop aroma. Maltiness was not too light or too overbearing. Pours amberish orangey. Nice kick to it. Bitter after taste which does not dissipate for awhile. Very good overall.

A very mild and malty for a double IPA. The hop notes are citrus, floral and piney, with a good sweet malt flavor. I honestly appreciate the ocasuonal mild IPA as a change up from the norm, as a double it comes off above average.

Pours hazy amber. Quickly dissapating head leaves a modest web of lazy. Hoppy aroma, not much floral smell as I would expect. Taste is piney, citrusy, hoppy, subtle on the front of the tongue and bold on the back. Not bad for a double ipa but not the best ive had. Good peoples snake handler kicks this to the curb. Still though very nice not as bitter as I would expect from a dipa. Overall good but mild.

A: The beer is crystal clear amber yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with some lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts and pine resin hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste starts out a with a bit of sweetness from the underlying caramel malts, but this quickly transitions over to piney flavors and a moderate amount of associated hop bitterness. Some notes of alcohol are also perceptible.
M: It feels a little more than medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. There are faint bits of heat from the alcohol.
O: This Imperial IPA becomes boozy as it warms up and definitely becomes a sipping beer

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/2 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, hint of caramel malt, slight alcohol, citrus hops, piney hops, hint of earthy malt, and a hint of grass. Fits the style of an American Double / Imperial IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of alcohol, slight hops, sweet malt, hint of caramel malt, hint of earthy malt, and strong citrus hops. Overall, good appearance, aroma, complexity, and blend.

A golden orange color with a fingers worth of white head. Getting some caramel, tropical fruits, light hop bitterness in the aroma. Taste is similar but the alcohol overpowers it. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall not the hoppiest of DIPAs.

A: slight haze; burnt orange in color; 1 finger off white head that receded to a wispy cap; very nice lacing;

S: pineapple, pine, earthy, a little boozy;

T: follows the nose; a little sweet at the swallow; moderate bitterness kicks in after that;

M: medium bodied - a little syrupy; low to moderate carbonation;

O: definitely a sipper - doesn't hide the 9.7% ABV at all;

22 ounces courtesy of my co-worked. On to the beer:

This is a dark amber colored beer, topped with a somewhat cream head and okay head retention. Despite its name, Hop Juice is actually on the sweet side with the smell. Now, there is plenty of grapefruit hitting the nose, although these notes of crusted with lots of sugar. Lots of malt here, some booze, a little kiss of wood.

It doesn't taste much like hop juice. Hop Juice is big and sweet, perhaps as much as a barleywine as a Double IPA. There's pineapple, a kis sof grapefruit, and a big slab of caramel. It does have some booze that slaps you around, but despite that, the beer's mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth and full bodied.

It's a fine beer, even if some hop lovers will be disappointed by the name.
