Appearance: Deep obsidian in color, with a coarse tan head, which retains well, and thick, scattered lacing.
Aroma: Strong aroma of bitter chocolate, unsweetened cocoa, cold coffee, and roasted barley.
Taste: Opens with prominent roasted barley. Moderate grapefruit hops soon appear. As the taste progresses, some sweet, warming alcohol manifests itself, as well as bitter chocolate, and cold coffee. Finishes with a mild, lingering wave of citric hops.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, full, and very pleasant, with just a bit of stinging carbonation.
Drinkability/notes: Very nicely made, perhaps a touch biased to the roasted barley and citric hops. A little more emphasis on the chocolate and cold coffee flavors would be most welcome.
Presentation: Packaged in a standard twenty-two ounce brown glass bomber with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Served in a tulip glass from a bottle. Pours black with a small head a very little lacing. The aroma is of roasted coffee with some chocolate. The roasted malt flavor enhances the mouth feel and taste. I was just expecting more depth. A well done stout.

From my tasting notes: This beer was big and robust that poured a deep black with a decent fluffy head. The taste was outstanding with loads of sweet malts and a big burnt chocolate, bitter dark chocolate flavor that sustained itself nicely. The full creamy mouthfeel kept this substantial brew thick and satisfying. The Voodoo Stout was a fantastic stout and one I would drink again and again.

a: black with some dark brown notes peeking through. 2 finger tan head that fades pretty quickly
s: smells like your generic stout. roasted and toasted malt, dark & milk chocolate, a hint of malt sweetness. finishes creamy
t: follows the nose pretty well. roasted and toasted malt upfront, bitter baking chocolate, creamy milk choco. something almost oaky. finishes with malt sweetness
m: full mouthfeel, with moderate carbonation
o: fairly average stout. all the flavors work well together, and it tastes good. its warming, but theres no hint of alcohol in the flavor. still though, pretty average

Pours black with almost no head and good lacing.
Smell is of coffee, caramel and toasted bread.
Taste follows the smell with bitter black coffee being dominant and roasted malt in the finish.
Light mouthfeel for a stout. Medium carbonation.
Very pleasant coffee and malts up front but, there is a bitter aftertaste that I find a little unsettling. Still, not a bad example of American stout.
