It seems most liquor stores these days in the South Jersey area are now stocking some craft beer. Let it be known that, first and foremost, Wine Legend is about wine (spirits, second).

This place doesn't have a beer person to talk to and their selection hasn't changed much in the 3+ years since I first paid a visit. Nor does anyone seem to know much of anything about the beer or care. Asking for help or advice is fruitless.

What they do carry and what you pay for it isn't necessarily all that bad, however. Expect to find (and always find nothing but): Sam Smith's, Chimay (and a couple other Belgian's - nothing rare), Rogue, Unibroue, Weihenstephan, etc - the crafts and imports that any place carrying crafts and imports will carry. They have a ton of 12-packs and cases, all the big boys, plus maybe 3 dozen different craft cases against the wall (once again, looks like the same untouched stock from last year and the year before).

If nothing else, they are always fairly well stocked in (and appear to rotate seasonally) local beers such as DFH, Yards, Victory, and Troegs. I believe they've always had Magic Hat, Long Trail, Flying Dog, and a half-dozen other crafts too. The main issue is with a lot of this beer is that it's frequently well past due across the board. And they really only keep about 2 fridge doors dedicated to craft (namely Victory, DFH). Looking for BMC or any of the Yuengling varieties and you'll find them in the 10 or so other fridges. Plus, there's only 2 shelves in one of the fridges dedicated to craft singles (bombers, not the cheese!).

This Wine Legend is fine in a pinch if you're just looking to pick something up for a party/barbecue/bar or bat mitzvah, but there are a couple other spots close by in the Cherry Hill area that may be preferable (Total Wine comes to mind).

This place doesn't have the best selection but the prices are cheap and I always stop in on my way to other Jersey liquor stores.

The people there don't really know anything about beer and aren't very helpful but they are friendly and will always look for beers you inquire about.

This is basically a huge liquor store that specializes in wine but also has a small selection of beer in the rear of the store. They have a lesser selection than other stores in the are but it's still somewhat decent. They carry a lot of Belgian beers but other than that the selection is limited to six packs Not an ideal place for tickers or people looking for single bottles but not terribl if you're in the area and looking for a decent six pack.

Located on bustling Route 70 not far from the new Garden State mega-retailplex, it's a large, rectangular box full of liquor and beer. In fact, for one reason or another, when I walk in, I feel like I'm entering an auto parts store. Where do you keep your wiper blades? But really, do I care about that? Maybe a little, but that's not a deal-breaker. And while they certainly do focus more on wine, there's more than just a passing nod to the beers.

What might be is the fact that many beers, especially among the singles and six-packs on the shelves, seem to be past their buy-before dates. While it didn't seem to be epidemic, I do recommend keeping an eye. They likely don't sell enough of some imports and craft beers to rotate them adequately. And I noted the same thing on a few sixers in the refrigerators as well.

The service, while at least not non-existent, was lukewarm and not overly knowledgeable. Look, I don't necessarily need the staff to be able to tell me how to pronounce gueuze, but they can at least know the difference between an IPA and a stout, which one fellow there did not. I won't recount the tale, but I will say that it's a disapponting thing to experience. But they did smile when they took my debit card.

The selection is nice, but not impressive. The cast of usual local suspects were in line, with Flying Fish, Victory, et al. about. Allagash was a pleasant suprise, and various imports of varying ilks rounded things out fairly nicely. But there's not question that, once you get past the wine, BMC rule the roost, to the extent of pushing the quality brews to the back corners, figuratively and literally.

Prices are right in line with what I'd expect to spend anywhere in this part of the state.

I don't get down that way very much anymore, so stopping there is rather an unlikelihood. If I am in the area, chances are I'll drive on and swing past one of my favorites instead. But if I never go there again for beer, maybe I can stop by for a new water pump in its next life.

I guess the best way for me to describe this establishment is average. I visited the store while my wife shooped at the Christmas Tree Shop down the road. I'm glad I did not make a special trip to get here. Selection was pretty much average. Prices were a little higher on some things and a little lower on other things. Nobody came around and asked me if I needed any help, which is OK with me. I've been to better stores in New Jersey. Maybe be worth a stop if you are passing by, but nothing to go out of your way for.

This Buy Rite has changed its name to Wine Legend. Why? What for? Gone independent? Who knows....

I waited a few weeks to see what would happen, and guess what, nothing really did except that the service is much better now. I've seen several customers being helped, and I've been approached in a comfortable, relaxed way and asked if I was finding everything I was looking for on each visit.

As far as the selection goes, it seems like the beers have remained basically the same, with perhaps a few more single bottles thrown into the mix. They're at least better organized now. And the wine selection seems to have been picked through a little bit, getting rid of some of the junk, and adding more quality items.

The prices remain pretty much the same for the wine, with some of the usual low-end specials, and average to just-slightly-higher than average (an extra .50) prices on everything else. But the overall selection seems better.

The beer section remains the same. There are some interesting cases that come and go here and there as they try new stuff, but other than that it's pretty main stream. The six pack coolers remain exactly the same, mostly full of macro brews, and with a whole section for malternatives. You can find some decent craft brews if you're headed to a party or something, but don't expect anything that'll turn your head.

I go there because it's on my way to and from work. They have a decent selection of single bottles and a great wine selection. And, of course, a standard stable of liquors at the standard prices. Beyond that, if I was looking for interesting beers I'd head over to Total Wine & More behind the Cherry Hill Mall, or Monster Beverage in Glassboro.
