Deep black color with a nice thick head with decent retention and leaving laces.
Light aroma of grainy toasted malts with hints of chocolate.
Flavor switches from chocolate to coffee from its roasted malts, with hints of wood, minerals and caramels. It seems that most of its mild bitterness comes from its malt rather than from hops. Dry aftertaste with residual roasted malt taste.
Medium body with good carbonation.
Decent but not exceptional, more for malty lovers.

First had: bottle at Eulogy, Philly, PA

Poured slightly hazy brown, with some orange-red highlights, and a nice white head that lingered for a while. Light aroma of malts, and not much more. Taste of toasted malts, wood, and a tad of smokiness finishing off. A bit of a harsh aftertaste. Medium body, and pretty drinkable.

A - Poured from the brown bottle into a clear pint glass. The label says it is batch 14...no freshness date. The body of this brew is a clear amber with ruby highlights. All of this is topped by a light khaki foamy head that has good retention.

S - Sweet caramelized malt with some dark chocolate lingering in the background.

T & M - The malt I smelled in the nose seemed more roasted than caramelized when I tasted it. Also hints of dark fruit, maybe figs, that I did not smell in the nose. Really no hop bitterness to note, which makes this one a little one dimensional. The body of the brew is pretty thin, almost watery.Moderate carbonation.

D - Easily quaffable. Low ABV and decent taste make this an easy drinking beer. Seems like this would make for a good Summer beer...though being imported, it's a bit pricey. It may not be the best example of the style but I'm glad I tried it.
