12-oz bottle in a chalice glass.

Appearance: Golden amber, crystal-clear, with initial head that disappears within seconds of pouring.

Aroma: Highly fruity (more apple than apricot I think), with tart underpinning. A slight metallic, coppery scent lingers around the side.

Flavor: Apricot flavor up front, starting very sweet, and then a large burst of mouth-puckering tartness. Some small leathery, metallic flavors as the taste develops. Finish is long, acidic, and dry.

Body: Medium-low body, appropriate for style, medium carbonation.

Great beer! Adventurous.

Bottle: Poured a bright golden color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention with some lacing. Aroma consists of real apricot without any fake syrup as well as some subtle sour notes. Taste is again dominated by some nice real apricot taste without the domination of the fake syrupy fruit stuff you sometime find in those beers. Great carbonation with a somewhat full body. I really enjoyed this for what it was and wouldn't mind having a more regular access to this beer.

Clear golden color. Fizzy white head, didn't last very long. Huge nose of a basket full of apricots, hits you at arms length. Nice bubbly, nearly champagne like carbonation. Apricot taste is strong, but balanced. Very sweet initial taste. Finish is tart, sour, and dry. Very well done fruit beer.
A highly recommended dessert beer. No need to have more than one of these a night.

330ml Bottle bought from the Vineyard, Belfast..

Poured a light golden colour... Head was big and foamy and white but disappeared quite quickly...

Aroma - Strong apricot, sugary, grassy, vanilla, slight lemony notes...

Taste – First sip was very sweet but was followed by strong sourness almost instantly. Strong lemon and apricot flavours, ginger, hints of lambic/gueuze flavours, peppery notes...

Feel - Quite sharp and dry. Medium carbonation...

Overall - An excellent fruit beer. Just the correct balance of sweet and sour...Highly recommended...

The beer pours a peach color with a thick frothy white head that fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a light peach scent that is sweet and almost cider-like. The taste is great. It has a very seductive peach flavor that is like peach schnapps. It is an easy drinker that finishes a bit on the tart side. The mouthfeel is good. It is a medium bodied beer with good carbonation. This beer, like their others is outstanding and a standout fruit brew.

One of the beers from the Merchant du Vin line-up in the U.S. It pours a slightly hazy orange-marmalade colored with with a creamy off-white head that holds OK. It eventually drops to a thin, creamy collar but also leaves some spotty lace. The nose expresses softly tart and sweet dried fruit that's surprisingly authentic. The body is light but creamy from a very fine and moderate carbonation. The flavor mirrors the aroma with a tart and sugary apricot flavor that hints at some grainy maltiness underneath. It finishes surprisingly clean and short with just some mild tart fruitiness. I had to question the labels claim of "spontaneous fermentation" from a brewery in Stamford, England and came up with a quote from "The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Wine, Beer, Spirits & Liqueurs" that suggests they innoculate with wild yeast acquired from Belgium. It reads, "Since 1993 Melbourn have brewed fruit ales in the old brewery, using wild yeasts from Belgium". That makes much more sense as it expresses some of the Brettanomyces and Pediococcus character but is much cleaner than most authentic lambics. Still, it's interesting and nicely done. It would make a good after-dinner conversation drink or a nice "kick back on the front porch" beer as the crisp fall weather enters. Worth trying.

Taste: Tart and sherbet like, sugary mouth feel that puckers with the tartness. Touch of actual beer quality ... hints of grain and hop, though they still don't even come close to the lingering tartness from the fruit. Quite clean for a spontaneous fermented brew.

After pouring Melbourn Bros. Apricot I immediately started out to determine if this was beer with apricot or apricot beer. Even after finishing off the bottle I'm not sure, but it was so good that I no longer care.

The beer's golden color, great smell, and great taste were all a welcome surprise (after having a few so-so fruity beers of late). The amount of apricot was the perfect balance between a hint of apricot and a lot of apricot.

This is now my favorite fruity beer just slightly behind Lindemans Framboise.

Poured out a nice honeyed golden with just a bit of thick, creamy white head that stayed as a nice thick layer with a few large bubbles. For $5.50 for this 12ozer that I had never had before I really don't know what I have in store for me, but hey, I am always up for an adventure, and that was what my freakin shopping cart at Stateline was all about!
Wow, wonderfully scented... thick, fresh bread dough... slightly sour... malty.... and then a bit of of apricot punching through....
Almost champagnelike in the mouthfeel, but maybe one step down from being too fizzy... Almost creamy, almost thickish. Very vineous in the taste though, more chardonnay, white grapes. Maltyness is fairly pronounced but also very nice. Man, this is very good. When I want to have a fruit beer, a lambic, this is what it should be tasting like. This is bordering on a sour, makes me think of Monk's flemish sour a bit- and that is a complement! But the sourness is not too overpowering at all, just wonderful.... the apricot flavors are perfect. This is something that is just done so well, I mean, it is not one where you search for the flavor, or where it is too overbearing. It leaves just enough flavor in your mouth, but not too much. I could easily sit back with a few of these and sip away!

The first experience of this beer was the overwelming smell of apricot when pouring the beer. The color of the foam was light wheat with a small hint of orange. During the pouring into my mouth, there was a distinct and potent smell of dried apricots - beauty! There was more taste of apricots than hops. It felt like I was drinking pure apricots. Mouthfeel - light, smooth and excellent.

This is a nice beer, fruity yet also yeasty, with good balance and highly drnkable.

A bubbly, light amber it has a fairly large off-white head that slowly shrinks to a smaller head and leaves a little lace.

The aroma is lightly apricoty, yeasty, slightly sharp, with yeasty dough and crackers.

The flavour is apricoty through to the end, but this is light and zesty balanced with slightly sour yeasty dough, hints of tart apples and lemon-lime soda pop before a lightly tart, yeasty finish of grain and apricot. It is nicely sweet, sour, and tart, very appetizing, and nicely balances the sweet apricot fruitiness with tartness and yeasty dough.

Part of me is sad to fawn over such a sweet brew. But I must say, I'm a sucker for the cloyingly sweet Melbourn Bros. beers. Dead on apricot flavors, never over the top, but right to the edge. Pricey at $5 a bottle but I have to admit they are worth it. Have a friend who loves cider but dismisses beer, give them this beer.

A fun beer. Beneath the tart, ripe, natural tasting apricot flavor there is a nutty maltiness and doughy sourness that makes it a compelling drink. What's impressive is the seemless joining of fruity, yeasty malt with apricot-seed and fruit. I know nothing of the heritage, but I did notice a mention of "spontanaeous fermentation."
I was sceptical. How foolish.

This is a sour beer-drinkers delight. How has it been kept from for this long? I'm almost 35 for crying out loud! I needed to know about this at least 5 years ago.
Very complex with pure, sunny honey aromatics, meyer lemons, and crushed, raw pistachios. As dry as any American Pale Ale or IPA, only the fruit isn't simple piney grapefruit. It's apricot and almond butter!
