A very agreeable staff. I liked the fact that it is for Beer Dogs like me, yet very family friendly. The beers were good, the red in particular stood out. My wife, a burger enthusiast, was very pleased with the hamburger. The building, and how they used it, is very inviting in a homey kind of way. Makes me want to check out their brewery location. They had a good berry wheat beer (not a category I normally find noteworthy), and an American Pale Ale, but I can't find my notes and thus can't comment sufficiently on the traits of the beers that I liked. Sorry, I can't remember the other beers that stood out. But, I will be back in the summer, and plan on revisiting. But it sure is nice to have a place that does so much with organic ingredients!!! Give the place a shot if you are in the Pearl District, it's worth it.

Laurelwood public house is located in an older, reburbished home just off of "hip and happening" NW 23rd ave. That's sort of good news and bad news as it turns out. The good news is that there is a lot to see and do around that part of Portland; the bad news is that parking is limited to street parking and it's pretty hard to come by.

Inside the pub itself, the docor is made up of warm gold and pumpkin colors, with some pictures and postures adorning the walls. Laurelwood makes the most of the space they have, so there is an upstairs and downstairs dining area, with a smallish bar on the lower floor. There is also a few tables and chairs outside as well, all of which were taken and in use on the gorgeous afternoon I stopped by.

Selection was the usual solid Laurelwood tap selection, as well as a couple of seasonals (a belgian wit and a hefeweizen). The workingman IPA was as tasty as every, and the hefeweizen tolerable. Service was pretty good I thought. The waiter was friendly and pretty quick/efficient, especially considering he was the only one providing service this early afternoon (he provided table service and acted as a bartender). Also, when he noticed I wasn't exactly bowled over by the hefeweizen, he comped me the beer, even though I assured him I was happy and willing to pay for it.

This is another solid Laurelwood pub, though given the location of the public house (I can't begin to imagine what it must be like trying to find parking on the weekend evenings), it's unlikely I'll be stopping by again any time soon. Fortunately, Laurelwood beers are readily available around PDX, and the NE Sandy loction is much easier to get to, with considerably better parking options.

The NW Pub House is located just off 23rd...a welcomed respite from the countless nearby shops and boutiques.

Love places like this that are in old houses. The multiple levels and rooms add an extra dimension to the vibe not seen at most places. Tiny bar area and numerous small tables provide the seating. Like most of the other stops in Portland, nice conversation with the bartender and other patrons about beer and Portland culture was easy to come by. One drinker mentioned how she was still using the same tank of gas from earlier in the summer. It being September and us being from Houston, the thought of that little of driving is almost shocking.

Beer was great. They had their usual lineup of beers on with nothing out of the ordinary available. We stuck with IPA's. The Workhorse IPA is outstanding. Love the Pacific NW IPA's.

Worth checking out, especially if you're already in the area.

During a recent vacation to Portland, we happen to find this place while shopping in the Northwest District. I saw the name and said we are stopping for beer. This location is perfectly nestled in a very visually appealing part of the city, very quaint, nice and quite, very laid back. We were seated right away on the pouch, the dinning room area seemed small, and full; but given the choice I would have taken the pouch anyway. My memory can't seem to remember what I ordered first, although I do know that after placing the order, the waiting came back and said the keg had kicked. The waiter had some good news though, which was, that a new seasonal IPA called Green Elephant had just been tapped. Great choice, that beer was phenomenal, so good I asked if it was possible to get a growler filled. The waited seemed to think that would be fine, but since the beer was seasonal and limited there were no growler fills :( . Not to much of a problem, I decided on taking home some of their workhorse IPA instead. All the frills aside, we ordered some garlic fries, and enjoyed everything around us. The waiter was very pleasant and also very knowledgeable, he was able to point us in the direction of another brew pub within walking distance and even suggested some beers to try. Overall a great experience, I would most defiantly visit again, highly recommended.

Day 1 & Stop 6 of the Portland Pub Crawl. Figured it was time for dinner, so we made this the last stop of the night. The brewpub look a lot like an old converted two story house. Interesting concept. Got seated right away at a small table near the bar. Service did seem to take a little while, but it was busy so that's cool. They had eight beers on tap. I went with the seasonal Standing Sun Ale, and my wife had the Space Stout. Decent beer, didn't blow me away, but was above average. Food was pretty tasty too. My steak and red pepper rollup sandwich hit the spot. After a long day of crawling, this was a nice relaxing place to have a bite to eat, a night cap beer, and cap off our first night in Portland.

This was the first stop of my second day in Portland, this place looked like a house from the outside, happened to be smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood too, pretty small inside but there is a cool outdoor patio area sitting right on the street pretty much, there was only one bartender/waiter working and was he was a nice guy, helpful with recommending other places, he even changed the TV for us without even asking, we got a sampler of eight beers and it was ten dollars, pretty expensive for that actually, did not eat here, they only had the eight beers on tap and all of them were their own, there was three IPAs including a seasonal called Boss IPA, food looked pretty decent but we were not quite hungry yet because of a late breakfast, also visited the airport location which had pretty much the same beers on draft, I would not go back to this location with all the other great stuff in the city, but would be curious to see what other locations are like, probably worth checking out, hopefully next time I am at one of these places I get to try their imperial stout, Moose and Squirrel, I have heard that is hands down their best beer, glad I stopped here regardless

I live about 4 or 5 blocks from this establishment. It is located inside a renovated house. It has very nice outside seating on a "residential type" porch. Its a fairly small Public House and they try to use as much of the space as possible which can make it a little cramped. Also they allow kids in the place which can add some undesirable noise to say the least. For the most part the service is pretty adequate and attentive. They have a nice full spectrum of their own house brews. Their food is nice standard American Pub-Fare and have an awesome happy hour. Very reasonable prices.

My favoite Laurelwood location. They put the house in Public House. Bar is kinda cramped, but hey, its in a living room! Great place to catch a nice Portland afternoon on their porch. As always, great Laurelwood brews. Workhorse IPA is fantastic. Service was cheery, better than most P-town service. The food is much better than most Public houses. And their happy hour is a steal, great snacks at a great price. The area is great for walking around and checking out local shops. I will be back, time and time again.

I happened on this place sometime ago and finally decided to go in for a pint or two. Great atmosphere, very quaint, friendly, inviting, and tidy little place. The smaller set-up makes for a much personable place
From what I had it was all quality and aimed to please. This was augmented by stellar, prompt, and friendly service. Bartender was very eager to give samples and gave an honest description of the products they offer
Selection was notable and might be considered small by some beer guru's. About 6-7 Laurelwood taps handles with a full bar. The beer selection is tasty craft stuff!
I had a plate of banging nachos during happy hour and waxed-off two great beers and walked out of the bar feeling good all around
Stop by the place! I like the set-up of an old house and make sure to close the door behind. I could easily make this my home...
very reasonable and hit the happy hour!

What a great place. A lovely old house in a great nieghborhood. We sat out on the deck on a lovely day. nice people, very nice place to sit and chill.

Their beers are top notch. All fit the styles very well, the Derenger is a great beer and deserves all the medals it has won.

Service was good and the staff was knowledgable.

Not a ton of beers on tap, but what was there was good.

I had the King Salmon, it was very good, just what I would expect in Portland.

The prices were very reasonable.

I am a big fan of this place and their beer.
