Pours a crystal clear orange amber with a thick firm head. Initially outstanding looking but head fades rather fast. Still, good looking.

Nose is muted fresh pineapple with lemon mousse tones. Pleasant and true to style but a little diluted in assertiveness.

Mouthfeel is medium/light in that there is a light diluted character again. Hints of "watered down" mouthfeel but not bad; still somewhat inviting.

Taste is light diluted bitter pine. Somewhat true to style but flavors are a bit simple and thin.

Finish is a long lasting dull pine bitter.

This is not bad beer; it is just not exceptional either. A bit more of a bright character and this could have some real potential to appeal.

On-tap at Lucky Devils, Hollywood, CA

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has some amber hues. No carbonation is visible.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops and caramel malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste mostly follows the smell, except that there are also hints of tropical fruits. There is a light amount of bitterness and faint hints of sweetness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a very good balance between the malts and hops. As such, it is rather drinkable for the style.

Fantastic smelling beer! Huge tropical fruit notes that give off that "dank smell" as well as the typical grapefruit and pine smells. I'm also getting a slight lemon undertone with sweet bready malts. Taste follows the smell exactly but it has a familiar yeast taste that I've had before. Looked up the brewery and found out its brewed not only in LA but in the 2 other breweries Sam Adams brews their beers. Its a great taste but I was expecting something a bit more unique when it came to the yeast flavors this beer puts out. Other than that excellent IPA! Will definitely try it at their LA brewery and review it on tap as their should be a difference.

Thanks to Orthodoxkardia.

12oz bottle. Pours a translucent orange with very little head. Some lacing. The aroma is floral and spicy hops, malt, and some light citrus. The taste is bready malts followed by some spicy and floral hops. Light grapefruit and tangerine. Floral and spicy hops at the finish. Medium bodied. Nothing stands out too much with this one, but its not a bad beer by any means. Overall, decent but I wouldn't be heartbroken if I never had it again.

On tap at the brewery – Los Angeles Arts District
Served in a house shaker pint glass - 01/11/14

A: Very clear copper colored body capped with some choppy off white foam. Lower retention efforts noted as the head gives out to a swirl in the glass with only a few minor dots of stick left behind.

S: Floral hopped nose with some resiny pines and a light citrus zesting. There is some bready malt cracker with a soft caramel sweetness to the aromas as well. Fairly nice and appropriate with a more delicate approach.

T: Watered down pine resins stand out accompanied with a timid hop combo of citrus fruits and florals. Segues to a dry biscuit malt cracker with some soft caramel sweetness. Has a standard moderate bitterness on the palate with a dry sticky finish and the alcohol kept fairly low for some decent sessionability here. Just good enough to be satisfying.

M: Light to moderate fullness with a nice even crisp carbonation. A touch watery overall but with a light peppery bitterness and a dry sticky finish.

D: A decent house IPA. Tailored for the masses with a more domesticated approach. Drives in the right direction but runs out of steam somewhere in B territory. Good and crushable but far from being great.

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of hops, pine, sweet malt, hint of alcohol, and a hint of grapefruit. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of hops, pine, slight sweet malt, hint of grapefruit, and a hint of grass. Overall, solid flavors and aromas, simple, but well blended.

More hoppy & Flavorful than most IPA's - superior to a lot of better known brands more highly reviewed.

If you find your self looking at a 6'er of Angel city IPA or some Lagunitas you might be shocked what you assume is the better taste.

A - Pours a medium copper, crystal clear, and a light creamy foam layer and moderate amounts of carbonation.

S - Spicy grapefruit citrus with a light amount of pungency.

T - Follows the nose with oily, spicy grapefruit citrus rind from start to finish with a bitter grapefruit ending that's more spicy than bitter. Underneath the resin is a layer of honey malt that keeps a steady backbone throughout. There is a very light herbal side to this

M - Medium body and slippery.

O - A solid IPA with just enough oily hop character to hold my attention all the way to the bottom of the glass. My overall score is actually stuck somewhere between my rating and a (4). The ABV is low enough to make this an enjoyable session IPA.

On tap at Angel City Brewery in Los Angeles, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and grapefruit juice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice citrus forward hop presence all around.

We had this beer both in a bottle and on tap. If given the opportunity you should consider trying this on tap, it's a lot better and the fresh hops make a huge difference. Overall great brewery to visit in the heart of downtown LA. The food trucks at the brewery are always a plus.
