This is my local. That said, there are reasons. I do not live around the corner ( much to my chagrin) but I do walk down in the afternoon fairly frequently. The staff is great. The food is good. Nothing spectacular on the menu, but what thy serve is quite good.
The beer selection is outstanding. They have a cask on @ all times. They always have a great selection in bottles and on draft. They have great games on the tv. and often esoteric games ( European football) The place is exceptionally friendly and just loads of fun.
Come have a pint or 16.

This place is amazing. Great selection of beers, good food, and just the right amount of TV's to watch sports while you drown yourself in suds. Spacious enough so your not crowded, yet small enough to feel like the neighborhood bar.
Beware of the popcorn here. It's free, and highly addictive. You've been warned.

A: Located on the Upper West side. Slightly touristy but there are plenty of locals in this area. A myriad of ages too, 25 and up.
Q: The kegs seem to turnover quite regularly but there is no problems with freshness with their tap brews, bottles or cans.
Ser: The service was fine, nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. Pretty solid.
Sel: There was about 22 beers on tap, 1 cask, plus some bottles and cans. Some Clown Shoes, Brooklyn, DFH, Pretty Things, North Coast and Founders on tap. As for cans, mostly Six Point.
Overall this is a nice little stop. There are plenty of bars on the block but this one seems to be more of a subdued crowd. Nicely priced drafts as well. Give it a shot if you are in the neighborhood.

My first time at this somewhat-famed Upper West Side beer bar, even though I have walked by it a thousand (or maybe a million) times. The neighborhood is packed with bars, most of them undistinguished sports and Irish pubs for frat boys.
Keeley's is sort of a smallish space I can see being crowded on a busy Saturday night. Dark, with lots of wood, breweriana, darts at the end of the bar and a jukebox.
20 taps- nothing to get excited about but fair enough. Some nice local surprises- three Greenport Harbor beers (Black Duck, Ahtamatic, Harbor Ale), Full Sail Lupulin, Ballast Point Abandon Ship... also Dogfish 60 and 90 and one or two rarities like Lagunitas Undercover and Anchor Foghorn, plus some quality Euros like Weihenstephaner Hefe and La Chouffe.
VERY expensive! VERY. Dogfish 90 is $8, Foghorn and Undercover are $9. WHAT???? Fuck You, George. On the redeeming side, the Greenports were $5.
Good service, friendly efficient bartender(s). Too bad the Abandon Ship I wanted kicked right when I ordered it and after getting a taste, but hey, shit happens.
The bar is a little loud, both the music and the customers, but bearable. Sitting on the window tables looking at the rain outside on Amsterdam Avenue was very close to wonderful.
Didn't try food and doubt I would ever want to... menu looks like basic pub grub.
They fill growlers and update their menu on beermenus.com, but be aware: growlers are mighty expensive! I asked a growler-toting customer and he said refills are around $20, plus $10 for the bar growler. What?? Fuck you, George.
I will be back one day, I'm sure, but not anytime soon. Proceed cautiously.

Hiked up to the Upper West Side to meet some friends who live in the neighborhood. Nice place with a good, simple neighborhood bar feel with a couple of high tops, a 15 seat bar on the right and about a half dozen tables on the left.
Beer list is pretty solid. 20-ish taps and a cask, about 2/3 devoted to craft. I was happy to see Bear Republic Crazy Ivan on tap along with Weihenstephaner Hefeweiss and DFH 90 Minute.
We had a good cheeseburger and very pleasant service. I'd stop in any time I am in the neighborhood, though it's not good enough to make a special trip.
