Poured from the 750ml swing-top bottle into a Stella glass. Creamy head, pretty good retention. Very cloudy chestnut (fitting) with particulates floating about.
It has a rich, malty drizzled-caramel aroma typical of bigger "double brown" ales.
This one puts the "nut" in "nut brown." Though it's chestnut I'm getting, I wouldn't immediately point the finger that way if I didn't know it was one of the main flavor constituents. I'd say almond...it has kind of an amaretto taste, I think. And of course, a heaping helping of big brown ale malt. Also has a powdery mineral-ness to it that makes me think of malty bieres de garde.
Pretty luxurious beer in feel, through and through. The last pour with the sediment really makes it feel lush and pillow-y soft.
It's a beer you can drink. The 8% ABV isn't as much of a bear as I thought it might be; it holds hardly any bite here. Soft feel makes it easy to take larger swigs from the glass. I'm drinking it by itself, but like most amber ales it would make an excellent food beer - would go with an array of meats, pastas, desserts. Yeah, I could see it going with panna cotta, tiramisu, creme brulee...
Very good take on amber ale. Its main drawback is the expense. Like most Italian beer, it's not cheap. Like most Italian beer, it makes comparable Belgians seem bargain-basement by comparison. Given this, it would not surprise me at all to see people bypassing 750s of this and reaching for a more-affordable Belgian amber.

This one pours a reddish orange color, with a small white head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like prunes and raisins, lightly sweet nuttiness, toasted malt, and apple skin.
This has a nice subtle nuttiness to it, from the chestnut addition, that really elevates this. There’s a definite dark and fruity note, with a nice toasted malt character, a hint of floral bitterness, and some lightly sweet apple like characteristics.
This is light bodied, clean, and very drinkable.
This is a relatively unique but nicely easy drinking little malty lager.

Bottled on: ??????
A - Murky / hazy burgundy red colored pour with ultra thin off-white lacing and light carbonation.
S - Aroma is bready, sweet, and a little toasty.
T - Bready sweet malt with a slight bit of spice, chestnuts, a hint of dark fruit, prunes, dates, and apple, while finishing on the sweeter side.
M - Big body with a velvety smooth finish.
O - Wish they would date stamp their bottles but this is a nice sipper.

Had this at Sottocasa Harlem. A neopolitan pizzaria that serves a very nice selection of Italian micro brews. Wonderful dark Amber color, bready malts on the nose, faint floral aromas. Tastes like a refreshing English Pale Ale and can taste faint nuts on the back end. High carbonation which adds to the refreshingness. Goes well with food. Enjoyed this and would get this again.

Over-rated. Paid a lot for this beer, but couldn't force down more a couple of mouthfuls before I poured it down the drain.

Thanks to Ben and the previous tenants for this one!
Pours into a straight sided glass with a ton of foam, filling the whole glass immediately. Was a little worried it would be infected, but thankfully it wasn't. Lasting tan head with lots of clumpy lacing in the glass.
Aroma is subdued, minor toasty malt is present, somewhat earthy.
Taste is much more earthy, malt forward with some toastiness and nutty flavors from the chestnuts. Feel is a little thin and overly attenuated, but it's a unique tasting beer. Overall not bad, probably best shared.
