I was lucky enough to find this on-tap at Barley's in Asheville. Wow! Wow! Wow!
This came to me in a 10oz snifter. The beer itself was a deep, hazy amber color. It was capped by a tan head of tight bubbles. Lots of lacing decorated the glass.
The aroma was just as outstanding. Very fruity hop scents (tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit) hit me first. They were followed by caramel and toffee. As it warmed, the malts shined brighter and the spiciness grew stronger. Yum.
The flavor....oh man, the freakin' flavor! This was as close to perfection as you can get with a DIPA. Insanely hoppy, yet fantastically balanced. Not overly sweet like many others that try to hit this mark, nor is it excessively bitter. The citrus and pineapple are at the forefront with a touch of spicy pine. Just when you think the bitterness is going to get overly aggressive and rip your tongue out the caramel and toffee sweep over your mouth and calm things down. Balance achieved. Delicious!
Bordering on full bodied with perfect carbonation for the style. Hop oils coat the mouth like a velvety blanket. Slight warming from the alcohol. I could drink this bad boy every day. One a day to keep the doctor away. ;-) Amazing job, Pisgah!

22 oz 2013 bottle served in a lager glass.
The clear body looks like honey, and there are suggestions of honey in both the aroma and the flavor. The aroma, however, is dominantly and strongly floral. The flavor has some citrus and herbal notes from the hops in addition to the floral ones. A relatively low bitterness (moderate) makes this very drinkable (aged) DIPA.
The high ABV is partially hidden.
