Well, a long time ago (OK...a few months ago) eerbayman hooked me up with this crazy deal via trade. Finally I have opened this puppy up and poured it into my Bristol Motor Speedway mug right around the last 10 laps of the Bristol night race. Thanks man! What the hell...there's a red flag around 8. Either way, it's an excellent pour. A little ginger and maple on the head. Great for a mug and jet-black espresso on the body. Spritely for its weight class. Nice.
Oooh, there's a lot of weight in here and it shows properly. Obscene. Beautiful robust dark, carmelized malt with just enough patent to make it interesting with a little tannin. Hops? Some pine...not a lot of grass. Weird but maybe a little floral scent...only a little.
Rich, rich, rich. Well-roasted coffee abounds with thick, dark brown sugar. Hops are piney and strong with a fair amount of slate and grill char. This has a crunchy organic Dark Lord quality to it... but it stands on its own with a little deep-dark wine depth to it. Pretty wild stuff.
This is creamy as hell on the palate. It feels like the booze makes its presence known much more here than in the earlier elements but it's still a very good read. Finish is a little tight on booze but a little saltiness breaks it up a bit. Finish is robust and again, a bit on the boozy side.
Overall impression drives a quick drink but the booze really dictates a pause or 2 for the bomber and a good seat. Either way...it's a little heavy but throws down rather quickly. I get a little bit of crunchy organic taste. It's very good regardless of technical merit or artistic impression. Very well-constructed. Kinda reminds me of Valdez on HGH...or better yet...Caddy Mount on supplements...

Thanks to queens1130 for sharing this one at Retsinis' tasting.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, char, and slight smoke aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa and slight smoke flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with nice subtle smoke qualities in the aroma and flavor.
