pint served at the brewery.

A: Pours a clear dark golden yellow with a lasting white head that briefly coats the glass on the way down. Plenty of carbonation is visible.

S: Light biscuity malt with only a faint race of hops.

T: Sweet and malty initially, but well-balanced with some citrus and spice notes from the light hopping. Clean. One strong point is the nice toasted malt finish. 3.75

M: light bodied but not watery; crisp with near perfect, medium+ carbonation. 4.25

O: A very good example of this style. God "summer beer" that is easy drinking, clean, light and smooth. Comes close in quality to Anchor Steam.

A new one from my boys, so excited to finally to get to try this one. One of a few up at Barleys last night, consumed on 02/09/2010.
The pour was bout what I would expect given the style. Nice golden amber in color with a two finger head of white on top that really just sat there wonderfully, settling slowly and yielding a wonderful amount of light lacing down the sides of the glass. Aroma was a touch light for me. Light bready grains, hints of muted herbal hops. Nice touch of light caramel sweetness and a healthy dose of fresh grass coming in on the nose. Crisp, clean, refreshing and light flavor, just what I would have wanted in a lager. Nice medium to light feel just really hit the spot quite well, leaving me refreshed and pleased at the same time. So clean of a flavor, buttery, sweet and bready, just a very well done and nicely session able lager.
Overall while it may not go down in the book as my favorite of all Pisgah offerings, it will rank very high on the scale of drinkability. I could have thrown down a pitcher of this with ease. Stunning.

On-tap at the brewery as part of a flight.

A clear golden yellow with a small white head. Smell is of wet tropical fruit, surprisingly fruity. Carbed, yet subdued. Lots of yeasty notes that are something like charcoal and fruit. Medium body and low to medium carb.

Interesting hybrid of a lager and ale, lots of ale flavor but a certain lagerness.

note:this was the first California Common I have had.

This one could be called PBR---for Pisgah Blue Ribbon!

A-Bright, clear golden yellow with a medium bright white head that reduced to a thin cap and left spotty lace.

S-Light sweet biscuit malt and a touch of spicy/grassy hops. Not that I think there is any in here but I get just a hint of cornbread.

T-Sweet biscuit malt up front with a surprisingly sharp backing from light citrus, spicy and grassy hop notes. Touch of toasted cornbread in the semi-sweet finish.

M-Medium-light bodied, crisp and clean with light lingering hop bitterness, perfect for the style.

D-Easy drinking and smooth. This is the perfect BBQ, lawnmower, summertime gathering, cross-over brew. Light and simple with enough flavour to keep even the most hardcore craft lover interested! Great job by the crazy Pisgah crew!

On tap at Pisgah on 11/28/09.

A - Crystal clear pale golden body with sparse carbonation and more than two fingers of fluffy bright white head that settled to a thin film and spotty lace.

S - Clean aroma with sweet malts and light noble hops, as well as a lightly toasted grainy character. Pretty straight-forward lager aroma.

T - Sweet pale malts give way to mild noble hops, the latter of which impart citrus and grassy notes. Finishes with a hint of corn, toasted grains and faint hop bitterness.

M - Light bodied with soft carbonation and a light syrupy texture. Crisp, clean finish with a very faint, subtle bitterness on the palate.

D - This easy drinkin' session lager (apparently one of Pisgah's first) goes down quite smoothly. Good stuff.
