I am so glad they opened Pisgah up to BeerFly reviews! I had requested this a while back, because I had such a great time at the brewery, but was not told they had opened it up. Glad I came upon it today, because the BA community needs to know that Pisgah is a must visit in Asheville, which is a must visit in and of itself.
I loved the atmosphere here, I went on a Friday, when they had a jazz band playing, and there was a decent, but not overpacked crowd, and on a rather calm Saturday early evening. A good mix of locals, and beer fans, all sampling and enjoying the vast selection of brews, and when a band is not playing, a decent rotation of music, as well (huge plus in my book).
The quality is unmatched, Pisgah brews so many styles (and some unidentifiable ones), but they all taste so good! I found myself enjoying the Dancin' Hobo, which I never would have thought was up my alley. They just do all their beers well, lots of flavor.
The people that work at Pisgah make it for me (as is the case with most of my favorite beer establishments). Everyone was nice, helpful, and very welcoming. It's nice that they all know their beer, and want to discuss the entertaining stories behind some of the more crazy brews they have on tap. In the end, they even gave me a bottle of Cosmos to take home (I thought I'd never get to sample this one).
As previously mentioned, they have a vast tap selection, including a few beers for the mass market folks, but if you have a friend with you that has resisted some styles, this is the place to explore. My friend's wife, who is not a beer fan, ended up visiting with us twice because she loved their brews so much.
Add to all this, the fact that their prices are ridiculously low, considering the quality of the brews, and you have the formula for a perfect brew pub.
The brewery is unassuming, to say the least, from the outside, but don't let that discourage you from visiting this excellent brewery, with a welcoming personality.

continuing our beer tour of asheville area. Pisgah was tricky to find for our GPS, but not for us. tap room is in industrial park area right off RT 70. Very slow at around 2:30 pm today. Bartender was not very helpful or full of information, but we didn't really ask many questions. Beer was very good I had a smoked porter and my husband a pumpkin ale and we shared the belgian triple, all very good. No food except may chips for sale, looks like they do alot of live music. all in all very pleasant if quiet!
