We pour a crystal clean goldenrod colored brew. It holds a two and a half finger head of bright white bubbles. This leaves at a medium pace, providing spotty, but thick lacing around the glass. There is a frosty film of bubbles left over the top of the liquid. Carbonation appears standard. The nose flows with adjuncty grain and flour. There is a warm toast, with faint lemony rind. Fusel alcohols appear in numbers with warmth. The flavor opens up with strongly bittering, metallic grain. It has full flavor, and somewhat souring with adjuncts and alcohol. The middle moves forward with even grain, and cream. There is a final alcohol bite, but this acts to even out the biting grain, in the place of hops. The grain is even throughout, making for an easy drinking beer. The aftertaste breathes with soft grain, a slight toast, clean booze, baker’s yeast, and metallics. There is even the mildest touch of grassy hops on the far back. The body is solid, and the carbonation is medium. There is nice slurp and cream to each sip, and an even bubbly coating over the remainder of the mouth. The abv is appropriate, and the beer drinks easily.
Overall, what we enjoyed most about this brew was how clean it was throughout. The aroma set up for an adjuncty, floury malt bomb, but what the flavor provided was something that was thick and even with stronger grain than expected. What is so surprising about this entire tasting is the evenness throughout the flavoring. With higher booze and a lack of other bold flavors, the malts hold up nicely against themselves.
