Initial taste of malt followed by heavy grain and some hops in the finish. Good with food, pleasantly refreshing, not amazing but way better than traditional american crap.

DATE TASTED: August 29, 2015 ... GLASSWARE: Warsteiner pokal... OCCASION: cooling off with some Jets/Giants preseason... APPEARANCE: golden, clear body with slight effervescence... foamy crisp, white head holds reasonable retention and forms soapy yet surprisingly articulate lacing... AROMA: Buttery, bready malts with a suggestively bitter aroma... the noble Saaz provides a light, flowery presence... PALATE: spritzy, fizzy, light-bodied... thin and bitter, with an equally bitter aftertaste... TASTE: as recalled from countless prior experiences, the flavor profile offers only a prerequisite malt and hop ping, with the overlying theme being one of the average mass-produced Euro pilsner masquerading as novelty or nuance... OVERALL: this is a beer that seemingly has been had many times by many different labels... the softened hops give a slight variation from the normal obtrusive maltiness.. easy-drinking, no doubt, but not much in the way of character... this beer pops up at sacramental celebrations, important dinners and such, but I have never bee sure why... definitely more flavorful agreeable beers available--although maybe its origin in Italy has a role in this...

I think this is an overall good beer. Nice with a sandwich, steak, burger or in a casual Italian restaurant specializing in pizzas/subs. It's one of those beers I particularly enjoy after a nice long run.

from a single into a spieglau ipa glass, looks really good, clear pale gold with 3 finger puffy white head that subsides after a minute leaving weak spotty lacing. nose is grainy macro lager with the faintest hint of grassy hops. taste is ok, following the nose and staying pretty basic...as the glass progresses, more flaws and inadequacies emerge. A little metallic taste at the end. Mouthful is probably the best part, though again, the initial impression is the best, fairly creamy and smooth, with a very faint little snappy bite at the end. The more I drink, though, the less creamy and smooth... the more bland it becomes. All in all, not terrible but not too good either...in a pinch, I might drink it again.

i just didn't really enjoy anything about this beer. i figured it would be a skunky beer before i bought it, so my expectations weren't high at least.

I don't find this to be as bad as others make it out to be. It pours a straw yellow with some head and decent lace. Malt aroma. Mostly grainy taste with some hop. Smooth, clean and refreshing. Not the best but I would take it every now and then.

Bottle pours a clear pale golden white a large white head. Aroma of lager yeast, grain, and dry grassy hops. Dry grains and malt, grassy hops, lager yeast. Nothing too special, but a well craft lager and very drinkable with some aspects hitting the right note.

My first Italian beer

So the look of it: very simple, no head what's so ever. No carbonation going out of the glasses. Gold. Color

The smell of it: Remind me of the Heineken same taste. Some corn and some hops

The taste of it: Feel Like the same as the Heineken but more on then watery side. Very light. Very simple. Not too much taste as a lager just the minimum
I think this is the Heineken from Italy

So overall would I recommend it: if u are in Italy and it is the only lager u can have take it. But if u have the choice of other lager or even the Heineken, take those 2. Personally I won t recommend it if I am
In other country

Lovely crisp pale lager, it has a crisp clean and refreshing taste, one of my favourites, can have it with anything. Not as good as Peroni but up there

Here is a lager that kind of surprised me. The golden color is nice, the taste is a little on the bitter side for me, which is why I gave it a lower score. Worth the try in my opinion.

Format: a standard 330mL brown bottle with a stylish macro label.

Appearance: a mid golden-amber colour with decent carbonation across the profile. A finger of thick head slowly drops to a good half-finger. Looks pretty good for a Euro Pale Lager.

Aroma: fairly light on the nose as usual per the style, just some grains and a touch of grass hops.

Taste: unusually for a macro lager, the grass hops come through well here with some decent quality lager grains. Comes across more like a pilsener rather than a lager.

Aftertaste: bitterness from the hops with a slight sweetness from the grains.

Mouth feel: light in body with a decent carbonation to bring those flavours through nicely.

Overall: for me, this was a bit of a diamond in the rough. I had 'Euro Pale' lager night, which I was not looking forward to since it is really not my favourite style. After a bunch of average beers and a bunch of awful beers, this one actually comes across quite refreshing with a subtle and quality flavour profile. Impressive for AU$42 a case. I'll have it again.

Bottle of Birra Moretti European Pale Lager, 4.60%ABV

A respectable European pale lager that comes in a lovely looking bottle. The “Moretti” logo, of a traditional Italian countryman about to enjoy a big frothing glass of beer, stands out indicating that this beer is stylish and eager to be enjoyed.

Appearance is a pale, straw yellow colour that when poured produces a nice thick white head with good retention and with decent lacing. A fine-looking clear lager

The aroma has a rustic smell of lightly toasted barley, and some grassy hops, which gave a very pleasant and balanced smell.

The taste was crisp and clean. having a light honey and mild malt flavour with a fair hop bitter aftertaste at the end.

This beer is easy to drink, a balanced and smooth taste that goes down well. Moretti is a good lager that goes especially well with Italian food (naturally!).

Birra Moretti brewed by Birra Moretti (Heineken), with an ABV of 4.60% This brew pours out a nice amber color with a nice white head. Birra Moretti is an filtered brew you can see right though it. The smell nice with grains and malts. You also pick up on some sweetness in the smell of this brew. Now for the taste, it is rich with with malts and a mild sweetness. This brew has a nice balance it it, there is nothing overpowering in this brew. The mouthfeel is is nice and clean. This brew is also relishing, Birra Moretti did a nice job with this one. Over all I'm giving Birra Moretti a 4.75 out of 5. I would buy this brew again.

I only drink it cause its made in Italy, which doesn't mean high quality, just that its my heritage. otherwise it would be just a light lager with limited complexity. Cold is best.

Poured from a 330mL bottle into a pint mug.
Aroma- Has an average aroma of grass and hops.
Appearance- Pours an amber color with a thick white head.
Taste-Not a bad taste, however I have had this in Sicily and it was much better closer to the brewery.
Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation.
Overall- This is just okay for me, Italian beers don't get a lot of love, pretty much for a good reason.

330ml bottle, poured into Moretti glass.

A: Golden, darker than standard Euro lagers, clear, small head.

S: Burnt toffee, slight hint of Saaz hop.

T: Lots of charcoal, burnt toffee, hints of wheat.

M: Crisp, well carbonated.

O: Looked like apale Euro lager, but tasted more like a Vienna style lager.

Great tasting Euro pils. Medium bodied, tons of biscuity malt flavor, followed by a refreshing hop bitterness. Really hard to beat IMO. Kicks all others in the heinie. The most desired beer in Italy.

Appearance – Very, very pale in colour, I struggled to get this beer to support any kind of head. The lack of head also resulted in zero lacing.

Smell – It didn’t even smell like a beer more like the barley water mix that beer might one day come from.

Taste – The taste matched this initial sight and smell observation as all I could taste was barley and water. Maybe the corn has an effect on the taste of the brew, who knows all I can say is this is rather bland for my liking. There is just mild and I do mean mild malt flavour so the whole thing is very close to the taste of water. Even my wife could tell from the colour that this one was going to be a disappointment and she does not drink.

Mouthfeel – Watery and very thin.

Overall – There is nothing really wrong with this but nothing really good about it either. It is just dull, having said that if you drink it with an Italian meal it does have a better flavour following the meal but not nearly enough to make it interesting. So my advice is either drink this as your accompaniment to an Italian meal or treat it like a Miller, chill it to near zero and drink it quick so you don’t notice the lack of flavour. I also tend to feel that this last point makes this a worrying beer! What I mean by that is best explained by this… imagine if a bunch of rowdy teens get their hands on this. At 4.6% they would be pissed pretty quickly and would just keep on drinking as there is so little flavour it would taste like water even to them.

The aroma is a little spicy, earthy, and sour, with just a touch of grainy sweetness. The eggshell-white head quickly diminishes; the bright amber body is crystal clear. The flavor is largely comprised of a grainy sweetness with a mild sour bitterness. The medium-light body is very crisp and moderately carbonated.

Overall, light, crisp, refreshing, and ordinary.

Bottle marked 338320HO at 35 degrees into standard pint glass
Aroma weak, some hops coming through
Head average (4 cm), white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to 2 mm ring
Lacing excellent – complete wide rings of mostly tiny bubbles
Body straw, clear
Flavor begins with light hoppiness which fades into some light malt. No alcohol, no diacetyl.
Palate light, watery, lively carbonation

Appearance 4, Aroma 3.5, Flavor 4, Palate 4, Overall 3.875. Final weighted score: 3.875
A good lager. Since Moretti is part of Heineken, I was expecting some skunk. This lager, however, was free of any sulfur taste and was very crisp and clean, actually quite enjoyable.

This beer is a Munich Helles style. Clean, rich, malty. Pours perfectly golden clear and maintains a slight head for the duration. Malty nose and slight sweetness comes through. Not for the hop-a-holics....who knew that the Italians could brew such a clean Bavarian brew? Despite the poor ratings and reviews, I think this a solid drinker

Appearance: Pours a straw yellow color that is clean and transparent. Half a finger of head on the pour settled in to a thin layer across the top that was present while drinking. Active carbonation is very bright, slightly above average for the style.

Smell: Straw and some medium bodied hops on the front. Some more grassy hop notes on the body with significant biscuit and creamy buttery malts. Touches of corn and nuts are picked up underneath.

Taste: The initial hit is of corn and grains which linger throughout. Biscuit, creamy dough and butter, and light hops open up on the body. Some pleasant hop tones linger on the palate after drinking.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and clean carbonation is very approachable. Some lingering corn and funk is detected but it is nothing over the top.

Overall: Nothing mind blowing but certainly would not turn one of these down at an Italian restaurant or similar setting with limit options. You can certainly do much worse.

The bottle backlog continues to fall in the wake of my decision to eradicate bottles from at least my kitchen and perhaps from my inventory. I am awash in the daggum things and they are standing between me and The CANQuest (TM) and I will not abide it any longer. I open this one in honor of Sheriff Walt Longmire's deputy, the Philadelphia transplant, Vic Moretti.

From the bottle: "The Beer in Italy"; "Qualita e Tradizione".

Wow, a whole 330-ml.! I'll be done before I really get started. I got started with my usual heavy-handed pour, resulting in a pseudo-cascade, and producing just under three fingers of dense, rocky, bone-white head with good retention. Color was a pale lemon-yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4) with NE-quality clarity. For the second time today, I feel like I have passed urine that was darker than the beer in my glass. Nose had a grassy, Saaz hops-like aroma. No adjuncts, anyway. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium. Taste was mildly grassy with a biscuit malt backbone. Not bad, especially for the price point. Finish was semi-dry, rather unobtrusive and fairly pleasant in total.

Very "skunky" aroma but pleasant to drink. It has a very refreshing taste. Think Heineken but a little stronger. Nice clear golden color with a frothy head. Aftertaste is a little dry. Low carbonation. All in all, it's a beer that you could definitely sit down and watch a game with. Although, nothing to write home about. It's cheap and easy.
