Appearance – Very, very pale in colour, I struggled to get this beer to support any kind of head. The lack of head also resulted in zero lacing.

Smell – It didn’t even smell like a beer more like the barley water mix that beer might one day come from.

Taste – The taste matched this initial sight and smell observation as all I could taste was barley and water. Maybe the corn has an effect on the taste of the brew, who knows all I can say is this is rather bland for my liking. There is just mild and I do mean mild malt flavour so the whole thing is very close to the taste of water. Even my wife could tell from the colour that this one was going to be a disappointment and she does not drink.

Mouthfeel – Watery and very thin.

Overall – There is nothing really wrong with this but nothing really good about it either. It is just dull, having said that if you drink it with an Italian meal it does have a better flavour following the meal but not nearly enough to make it interesting. So my advice is either drink this as your accompaniment to an Italian meal or treat it like a Miller, chill it to near zero and drink it quick so you don’t notice the lack of flavour. I also tend to feel that this last point makes this a worrying beer! What I mean by that is best explained by this… imagine if a bunch of rowdy teens get their hands on this. At 4.6% they would be pissed pretty quickly and would just keep on drinking as there is so little flavour it would taste like water even to them.

Review from notes on 9/16/09.

A - golden straw yellow. 1.5" white fluffy head that died rather quickly, leaving no lace. Not much to offer but clarity here, which is very good. 2.5

S - Pilsener malt, cooked corn, cabbage, and skunk. Lightly metallic too. 1.5

T - Initial sweet pilsener malt is completely overwhelmed by a nasty herbal and medicinal bitterness than clings desperately to my tongue and palate like a revolting leech. A jumble of tongue-shreddingly bitter bile coats my palate and prevents me from further using the tastebuds for the night. A lovely twang of metal rounds out the flavor. 1.0

M - Thin and fizzy. Carbonation died shortly, leaving a thin, watery, beverage... ugh. 1.5

D - Eff that son. Poured. 1.0

What else would you expect from an Italian lager. This is a country known for bold wines, fast cars, and tough gals.

A: Pours a clean urine yellow. Might use this for my next pee test.
S: Smells like the breath of a chain-smoking, barfly hag. I'm surprised flys weren't buzzing around this as it warmed up in between sips.
T: Somewhere between bong water and a water bottle that's been around too long. Slightly acrid with an aftertaste that makes you want to brush your teeth immediately. Like the gritty feeling that your teeth have after you puke.
M: Not something you want to have washing over your cheek and gums for long. This is not a beer to savour.
D: Aargh. This is foul.

Pours a very pale yellow with a snowwhite head. Dissipates very quickly but is very fizzy. Smell is lightly grassy with a light bittering hops in the background.

Taste is grassy, rice crispness. Sparkling mineral water flavors. Long unpleasant mineral bitterness. Clean and crisp mouth. Very fizzy. Overall, unpleasant little lager lots of that mineral water bitterness (for lack of a better descripter) and not enjoyable on any level.

Bottle: short stubby green bottle not expecting much. Hey is that the "godfather."

Appearance: straw yellow with a brown tint. Medium foam nothing special. the body was light.
Smell: really bad like cheap macro beer.
Taste: Kind of skunked with the hops and barley fighting each other.
Really bad aftertaste I think I still taste it today!!

A - Looks like any light lager. Pale yellow iwth bits of fizz clining to the edge of the glass. Not even a real collar. The bottle is pretty cool though.

S- Smels like....nothing really. The tiniest hint of sharp hops.

T - Tastes like a weak cheapo lager. Acrid and overly bitter.

M - Light and carbonated. Very refreshing and cleansing.

D - Suffers from the bitterness and musky rot-gut taste. I will never drink this again.

smell is averagely hoppy with an equally average malt counterpart.

initial taste is a mineral watery thin mildly hoppy concuction with enough carbonation for that tingy soda effect on the tongue.

moutfhull is a somewhat harsh frothy creamy combo which is weird and interesting in a bad way.

aftertaste is too dry, too bitter with a high injection of zinc that lingers WAY too long.

i didnt notice any sweetness come through at all. a beer this sour should be advertised as such.

Poured into my pint glass the beer is as clear as water. Just a slight yellow tint. The bright white head reaches about two fingers then slowly fades to leave just smattering of soapy lace.

The aroma is pure corn and green veggies. A definite skunkiness is present as well. Not real appealing.

The flavor is a full on metalic blast. Light sweet corn is present if you really concentrate but the taste of metal really is overpowering.

Light thin body. plenty of carbonation.

Overall I had zero expectations going in and they were met with flying colors. Epic fail.

Just a notch above awful for every category, sweetish and bland, fizzy and yellow, and overall, pretty much a snoozefest, no character at all, their La Rossa is much better.

Bottle: Poured a golden colored brew with almost no head. Aroma is quite thin and almost non-existent. Taste is a light mix of sweetness with some floral malt. No aftertaste to speak of and carbonation is not good. Body is quite thin. Overall, this is a refreshing lager that doesn’t have much in term of taste.

Overall I despised this beer when I was in Italy, besides the labeling which is kind of cool. Anyways, this is one of the grainiest beers I have ever had. There was nothing good about it and I found myself at times lusting for a Peroni, which I wouldn't even touch in the States. If you enjoy wine, stick to it when in Italy because I didn't have a good brew the whole time I was there.

This was supposed to be the LaRossa, but nobody in Firewaters can find any of the few things that I actually wanted.... they decided this was the LaRosa... Well, now I know what I actually had from looking at the labels on here...
No dating, just some odd numbers on it= 3290380HC.
This one poured out golden with no head, bits of white that swirled up here and there, and lots of carbination rising up. Crappy Firewaters for an insanely detergent laced glass.... can barely smell the beer.... (soon I'm going to realize they are doing me a favor!) Barely get a whiff of floral maltiness... Giving it the benefit of a doubt, this bottle is well past it's prime. Freaking skunky tasting as allhell. Very low carbination in the taste, especially for all the bubbles that you see, you cannot feel it. You get a bit of caramell sweetness, bit of bitter hoppiness are still present, but I just keep thinking of roadkill skunks swirled up into my glass. Ok, I managed to drink about an inch into it, and even got Mark and Karen to try it... god am I cruel! Finally just asked the bartender to pour this out, not worth making myself sick over... To give them credit, I did get a makeup beer from them.

Pours a clear golden amber with not much head. Aroma is crisp and typically lagerish but with a hint of fruit. Flavor is like any average lager except for a fruity tough, but with a nasty, unpleasantly bitter undertone. Texture is thin, and it leaves a harsh, bitter aftertaste. Maybe my sample came from a bum batch.

Not a terribly bad beer, but just not a very good one.
The label is more European than the over taste and body of this beer, as it tastes like flat ginger ale.
The smell is somewhat bitter and piss-like.
This beer is apparently bottled by Heineken, which makes sense, although it tastes like a watered down version of their flagship brew.

might as well drink a Coors Light...

Poured this from a bottle to a pilsener glass. Had a clear texture and a bright, golden color. It left a very small head that evaporated quickly. However, it had a decent amount lacing.

Smell was somewhat heavy on hops, but mainly it just seemed skunky to me.

The taste was unimpressive. Some hops and a little malt, but mainly it was thin and watery.

The carbonation was just below average, so there was no fun in the mouthfeel category.

On the whole, this is a pretty uninspired beer. One wonders what Birra Moretti was like before Heineken took them over. Now it's just a run of the mill macro lager. Pass on this one.

Pours a light golden colour, not much carbonation. Soft, foamy head.

Nose is quite bad. Smells like bad cabbage. It's almost rancid, rather than bitter. But it's not so pungent so I can forgive this.

Taste is unimpressive, although not quite as bad as I expected given my dislike of the nose. The mouthfeel has a sharp character to it which gives it a slight kick - a good thing, given that otherwise the taste is fairly bland. There is a European, slightly sweet character to the hops but there is not much else to speak of. It's slightly bitter, slightly tangy, slightly flavoursome. Slightly drinkable.

12oz bottle, no freshness date.

Pale golden with a fluffy white head that dissapears quickly, no lacing.

Aroma is grainy and sweet.

Flavor is cream corn, not much else.

crisp, dry, slightly spicy, finish. finish was actualy the best part.
Otherwise....Borrring.

Tastes like an imported light European lager... oh wait, it is another imported light European lager! The best part of this beer is it's appearance. If you like bright, clear, yellow beers; it's beautiful.
The taste was sort of like Heineken, which for me, is bad. Not much aroma either.
Someone gave me this beer, so I'm not that upset.

Pours out a light pale straw with no real head besides small white wisps.

Smells of skunk and booze.

Taste is of some malts, slight bitter hops, rice maybe, definitely skunky.

Mouthfeel, is the carbonation of a coors, watery for sure.

drinkability, well it is not too much to handle but I don't know why you would want too, better than a BMC, but not much else.

Don't get it unless you have too.

a light golden in color with a one finger white head that quickly faded and no lacing. strong metallic smell thats a real turn off. taste is dry, grainy, metallic tasting and little hop body to it. mouthfeel and carbonation were ok. pass this beer up it's not worth the price.

This beer poured fine, not much of a head, but a nice carbonated bubbling. It's smell, though, was rather acidic and sour. It's tasted was equally sour. It's a rare beer that I cannot finish, but this was one. I made it maybe a quarter of the way down my glass before quitting. I thought I had bought a bad single, so I waited a week and tried again, but with the same results. After drinking the occasional Peroni, I was a disappointed in this brew.

good looking bottle/label combination (but that wont affect my scoring). brewed by heineken in italy and imported by heineken australia. best before 10/07.

fairly unimpressive appearance. little head, golden/yellow in color, and several indiscriminately placed and variously sized bubbles.

mainly malty sweet aroma. thought i got some buttery diacetyl, but if its there, its very faint. not much else unfortunately.

taste sticks to the sweet side. well, only through lack of bitterness. basically, its pretty bland. a bit of staleness to it, like they used old malt that was sitting in storage for a while in a non-airtight container (not that i would be able to tell that by the finished beer, but thats what its like).

yeah, not something i would look for again. very disappointing.
as a side note, i just had a steinlager that would kick this beers ass. this seems way off target style-wise in comparison.
