Review from notes on 9/16/09.

A - golden straw yellow. 1.5" white fluffy head that died rather quickly, leaving no lace. Not much to offer but clarity here, which is very good. 2.5

S - Pilsener malt, cooked corn, cabbage, and skunk. Lightly metallic too. 1.5

T - Initial sweet pilsener malt is completely overwhelmed by a nasty herbal and medicinal bitterness than clings desperately to my tongue and palate like a revolting leech. A jumble of tongue-shreddingly bitter bile coats my palate and prevents me from further using the tastebuds for the night. A lovely twang of metal rounds out the flavor. 1.0

M - Thin and fizzy. Carbonation died shortly, leaving a thin, watery, beverage... ugh. 1.5

D - Eff that son. Poured. 1.0

Appearance: One-half finger of foam that quickly dissipated. No lacing. Pale straw color.

Smell: Slight malt and hops. However, the most dominate smell was metalic.

Taste: Sweet and hoppy up front and develops into a nice bitter aftertaste. Again, metalic was the dominate attribute.

Mouthfeel: Thin

Drinkability: I've had this beer in the past and it wasn't this bad. Perhaps this was an old sample or was abused in shipment or by the restaurant. Maybe I'll try it again to see for sure.

Appearance - Light golden color. Filtered. Pretty good for the style.

Smell - a little malt, a little hops, fairly pleasant and complete lack of anything off-putting or adjuncty

Taste - light malt up front complimented by equally subtle hoppy finish. Smooth, crisp, and nothing in the way of adjuncts are noticeable. This isn't anything special, but it sure is tasty. Excellent session brew.

Pale yellow beer, minimal little bubbles. No aroma to speak of.

Taste, not much. Barely a hop or malt presence. Kinda refreshing, like a water would be. Enjoy this more with spicy mexican than Italian food. I don't understand why this is all good in Europe, but then American crap is denigrated. Bad is bad. This isn't 'bad' but it gets close. I guess what pisses me off the most is how expensive this beer is. And for what? There's no mouthfeel, I really don't know what ingredients go into it, but it ain't much.

12oz bottle poured into a 12oz glass.

Pours a very clear yellow with no head at all. Nose is light and a bit malty.

Taste is light and malty with a very light hop finish. It's pretty bland and inoffensive though. It's god to drink with an italian meal though.

This is a perfect champagne breakfast buffet beer. Loads of burp from a very clean, light golden fizz and a nice hopped edge on the aftertaste. What's NOT to like for this style? Certainly won't stand up to serious beer for beer competition BUT this is the type of refreshing hot summer beer that's best served very cold for thirst quenching. My wife was very happy when I introduced her to this beer. Like I say THIS is the BEST choice for a breakfast bar beer - nothing else.

Pours as a very pale straw colour with loads of carbonation and a massive foamy white head. The aroma is very weak, what this is is grainy, with a hint of soap. Again the taste lack power. There is a slight bread malt, with a papery taste following, and that is pretty much it. Really not a great beer, if you see it don't bother.

I have wanted to try this beer for a while, because I ended up with a pair of logo glasses. Anyways, I liked this better than your typical macro, I think there are much better Euro Pale Lagers out there, but this isn't a bad example. There are certainly worse.

It is the typical golden straw color that this category seems to have. Though I had minimal foam with a good amount of carbonation. I would have friends who only drink macros give this a try. It would be a good step into something better.

smell is averagely hoppy with an equally average malt counterpart.

initial taste is a mineral watery thin mildly hoppy concuction with enough carbonation for that tingy soda effect on the tongue.

moutfhull is a somewhat harsh frothy creamy combo which is weird and interesting in a bad way.

aftertaste is too dry, too bitter with a high injection of zinc that lingers WAY too long.

i didnt notice any sweetness come through at all. a beer this sour should be advertised as such.

Ordered this at the Roman Market near Mahtomedi, MN. It was served in a large Moretti chalice that easily housed 16+ ounces.

The color is copper tinted golden, very clear. A thin light tan colored head is produced, and it stays a thin cap for the duration of the drink. It leaves some spotty lacing, but nothing special.

The nose is pretty light, with a sweet malt character shining through. It's hard to pick up much else when it is served this cold.

The taste is much better. I pick up light floral hops that go nicely with the already straightforward sweet malt backbone. It has just enough flavor to keep me coming back, not too bitter and not too sweet, a pretty decent combo for a European Pilsner.

Mouthfeel is about medium, heavier than I thought it would be. Smooth and crisp with a low carbonation. Drinkability is good, it paired nearly perfectly with my Italian Beef sandwhich.

Overall, not a bad Italian beer. It's definitely nothing special, but better than any BMC offering I can think of.

Presentation is a 12 oz. brown bottle.

The color is a clear sandy yellow. It pours a sizeable frothy head which it retains nicely.

A light floral hop smell is present. Grassy, with faint citrus notes as well. Far less skunky than one might anticipate.

I'd have to say the taste is closer to its American counterparts than most euro lagers.

Decent as far as drinkability is concerned. Not bad overall but certainly not a must.

Somewhat adjuncty smell reminds me a bit of Mexican lagers like Sol or Corona. Pours with very little fizzy head which recedes leaving no lace. Medium straw transparent yellow. More carbonation apparent on the tongue than in the glass. Not too much flavor beyond alcohol, grain, and fizz. There's really no there there. Easily drinkable, but why pay premium prices for a mediocre beer?

Poured into a Pokal.

A: Brilliant brass, with the mildest of carbonation. A Soapy white head dwindles to a thin film fairly quickly. Leaves a fair amount of lace.

S: Quite musty. Smells heavily of fresh cut grass. There's a bit of straw-like malt in the background.

T: Safe, if nothing else. Malts present a dry huskiness and a hint of honey. Bitterness is mild and has a grass and earth flavor. Finishes clean cold, but gets progressively more metallic as it heats up.

M: The light body is slightly grainy and highly carbonated.

D: Yet another middle of the road EPL. A perfectly passable beer, but does nothing to justify its price premium over many other comparable beers. The low ABV makes this a quick drinker.

Pours a light light honey yellow color with a large whitecapped head. The beer is crystal clear and looks about as filtered as a beer gets.

Smell is lightly skunky though it is in a brown bottle. Is it just Heineken rebottled? The rest is light grain and slightly medicine like hops.

Taste is standard euro lager fare, perhaps with a bit more of the skunky/sour flavor like American pale lagers or green bottle imported pale lagers. The hops are slighlty bitter. Mouthfeel is a bit watery for the style. There is also some slight metallic flavor.

Overall a sub average beer.

A: Bright Blond color, very good foamy head with a thick finger that never goes away, when i see the logo i imagine my self with a suit and hat drinking a beer;

S: Floral hops and malt, with a touch of lime;

T: Good, stands the earth hops that produces green olives essence;

M: Medium bitterness, refreshing, whole body;

D: Good to accompany spicy food.

I had this on tap at a local restaraunt. It is a pale, clear yellow with an average head. The nose is biscuity, slightly sweet. The flavor is pretty typical for a euro lager sweet, and bready with enough hops for a bit of balance. The finish is crisp. The beer is light bodied, well carbonated and easy drinking. Even though it is not my favorite style, this one is not bad.

This is a typical Italian tourist beer which can be bought in most supermarkets. It's in a typical bottle and the volume is bigger than the most beers.

I drank this one during my holidays at Lake Garda. Not very impressed by this beer but it's bad either. This beer is meant to cool yourself during the hot season.

Heineken owns this brewery and thats a pity because i am fond of this brewery and the way they take over the smaller breweries is a country.

Drank this on and off for the two years I lived in Italy. Eventually became sick of it (and Peroni). Finally got a chance to drink it for reviewing purposes and many of the memories came rushing back. Not all pleasant.

Moderate yellowish with a very thin head and little to no lacing or complexity. Kind of smells like Heineken, only has a more well-defined hop and floral structure, with some grassiness in the mouth.

A bit grainy on the back end, but in my experiences with Italian beer over the years, I attribute the grainy minerality to the very calcic and mineral-rich water that adds an odd taste for many people who are unused to it.

L - Poured a pale gold with a thing head and no lacing.

S - The smell is a herb and hops mixture, with a crisp citrus undertone.

T - The taste is quite subtle but not bad, its quite smokey with hints of hops and wheat,

M&D - Good consistency, maybe a little thin, the level of carbonation is good in the mouth.

Overall an average beer.... Not much else to say.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a pale yellow color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, with a touch of hops. Taste is slightly sweet, malts with some hops. Feels medium bodied in mouth. This beer goes down very smooth. Overall this is a decent beer.

Had on tap at Tarry Lodge in Portchester NY.

Appearance - Stikingly clear. It is the same color as Bud Light! With less bleached white head and no lacing.

Aroma - Bitter hops. Wet towels. Typical lager aroma. Some grains. Not great.

Taste - Metallic, grainy flavor. I get some licorice, which was odd. This beer has a strange flavor, that is not pleasing. Not impressed.

Mouthfeel: Just like any other macro lager you could buy. Watery and overcarbonated.

Drinkability: Decent, if you like this kind of thing.

330ml bottle.

Looks like piss, tastes like piss. I've had worse, but there really is little to recommend it, even cold on a hot day, you can find better macro lager than this dross. But the label is quite nice.

The strap line is "The Beer in Italy". Maybe that's why they drink wine.

Pours a pale, clear yellow with a minor amount of white head. The aroma isn't too stark in any direction--there's a little bit of malt and some European hops. Taste is similar; just a tad bit sweet. Mouthfeel is thin with a moderate amount of carbonation. Drinkability is pretty good, but a little too much carbonation and not enough flavor for me.

What else would you expect from an Italian lager. This is a country known for bold wines, fast cars, and tough gals.

A: Pours a clean urine yellow. Might use this for my next pee test.
S: Smells like the breath of a chain-smoking, barfly hag. I'm surprised flys weren't buzzing around this as it warmed up in between sips.
T: Somewhere between bong water and a water bottle that's been around too long. Slightly acrid with an aftertaste that makes you want to brush your teeth immediately. Like the gritty feeling that your teeth have after you puke.
M: Not something you want to have washing over your cheek and gums for long. This is not a beer to savour.
D: Aargh. This is foul.
