Undated bottle at 45 degrees into standard pint
Marked aroma of malt
Head large (5 cm), rocky, light brown, rapidly diminishing to 1 cm layer
Lacing good - reticulum
Body amber, clear
Flavor very malty, slightly sweet; no alcohol, no hops, no diacetyl. Ends fairly quickly with slight bitterness.
Palate medium, watery, soft carbonation

I was pleasantly surprised – this was better than I expected and actually was a good doppel bock.

Bottle purchased at Amore in Rochester, NY.

Pours a dark ruby red into a stange, with a small quarter inch head, and no lacing.

Smells quite malty, rich, and sweet, with some caramel, dark fruits- cherries, mainly.

The taste is fairly similar. This isn't quite as bodacious as some of the best dopplebocks from Germany, but it has to be one of the most drinkable versions I've had. There's medium sweetness, some fruity yeast esters, and lots of malt flavor- caramel and toffee. No one flavor dominates, they all meld together in a very drinkable beer.

Medium bodied, silky mouthfeel, low carbonation. As mentioned before, very drinkable.

I loved this one, it was really tasty. The taste was so smooth and lively, with an very good drinkability for the style. No alcohol was present whatsoever.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a big tan head. Smells strongly of malt. The taste is initially a very sweet caramelized malt flavor then a touch of honey, and a hint of bitterness in the finish. Decent mouth feel. Overall a decent doppelbock, though I'd prefer a bit more complexity.
