Malty, nutty scent (almond?) with an almost peppery hints with I think some caramel.
Warming finish with lighter carbonation, some presence in body on the palette and a slight wateriness.
Medium reddish mahoghany in a regular pint glass, poured to approximate 1/4" head which has dissipated but is slightly lingering 1/16" or so with some light lacing.
Malty kind of brandyish flavor on the palette, definite warming from the alcohol with no real hop presence to me.
I'd think 2-3 fairly easily, but higher abv and the hints of brandy in the flavor would likely make it one to have 1-2 of.
I like it well enough but the higher alcohol isn't quite covered up enough for me I was surprised when I noted it was only 7%. The sort of medicinish flavor draws down a bit also. I like it, but am not in love with it.

Undated bottle at 45 degrees into standard pint
Marked aroma of malt
Head large (5 cm), rocky, light brown, rapidly diminishing to 1 cm layer
Lacing good - reticulum
Body amber, clear
Flavor very malty, slightly sweet; no alcohol, no hops, no diacetyl. Ends fairly quickly with slight bitterness.
Palate medium, watery, soft carbonation
I was pleasantly surprised – this was better than I expected and actually was a good doppel bock.
