A 330ml bottle with a BB of April 2015. Acquired a while back from a supermarket. Described on the label as a bottom-fermented bock beer.

A: Poured into a stemmed pilsner glass. A dark reddish-amber hue with light carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding.

S: Aroma of grainy malt with hints of caramel, mild fruitiness, yeast esters, subtle stewed leaves and faint husks. A twinge of booze in the background.

T: Tastes of grainy caramel malt with a delicate sweet finish. Notes of caramel, husky grain, mild fruitiness, yeast esters, muted barley sugar and stewed leaves. A touch of alcohol in the background. Slightly sweet, followed by a subtle, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with pleasant carbonation and good body. Lightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of mild caramel malt, faint barley sugar and stewed leaves.

O: Pretty good - not up to German standards perhaps but drinkable enough. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are sweet, malty and mildly fruity. Nice body. Possesses a subtle but rounded character that goes down easily. Worth trying if you come across it.

pretty Decent beer. Kind of a cross between a brown ale, lager and doppelbock. Heavy alcohol burn at the end. Not really a doppel - more of a hybrid

Deep Amber color. Malty but not heavy. Notes of caramel, maple and chocolate.

Very similar to the more common Newcastle, but better.
