A bar about a 2 minute walk from my house, so we go often.
The food is incredible, lots of great, interesting menu items. The Buffalo Cluck and Mac (buff chicken mac and cheese) was delectable last time I was there. Always good salads, stir fry, burgers, and sandwiches too, as well as fancier full entrees, steak seafood and salad.
The beer selection is nice. Not huge- about 8 taps or so. They have one or two house brews made by CB's on at any time, tasty, but simple. They lean towards local craft save for the Stella, Guinness, and occasional Dogfish Head tap (Aprihop was unbelievably delicious one of the times I've gone). Lots of good Naked Dove on tap. The prices were reasonable for beers, and slightly expensive but not crazy for food. Highly recommended.

Hogan’ is located in a neat neighborhood of well-maintained older homes (large Victorians, Grey Stones, etc.), big old churches, museums and parks.
You enter from the side near the parking lot. The small 6 seat bar is right in front of you. There are dining areas off to each side. There is also a small patio in back & sidewalk seating in front.
They offer 9 taps of which 7 are craft (plus Stella and Guinness). They had mostly NY offerings which was fine by me. Note that they have Happy Hour with some good prices.
They offer a very eclectic food menu. I didn't eat this time but will next time I'm here.
Well worth a stop.

Actually very close to this place. It is quite the busy place most of the time. You see every type of person come in here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Casually dressed, very dressed, people that are just in town for a while, regulars, very rich people, college kids.
The bar area is small and cozy. I believe I counted 6 taps, Stella, 2 different Custom BrewCrafters Ales, Old Rasputin, and a couple others. Relaxed atmosphere. The bar closes early (usually around 10:00-10:30), so make it your first stop if your in the area.
A- Very interesting. Lots of older things hanging on the walls. Artwork hanging around labeled with the artist's name and a price if you really like it. Clean, comforable, nice.
Q- The food here is very high quality. Everything is fresh and good. I'd say quality is a staple here.
S- Last time I was there my water glass was never less than half empty. Great service, great people, not waiting around at all.
F- Not a huge selection, but a very interesting one. Lots of off-the-wall types of dishes. Gazpacho is a favorite.
V- This place is reasonable for the area it is in and the service that you get.

Another gem of a find thanks to Beerfly and sampling their "wares" at Custom Brewcrafters festival of ales.
Cheers: Our visit found us at the quaint, abeit small bar in the back of the house. It was nice to sit by the fireplace and enjoy the radiating heat and the whiff of smoke. The decor is amazing, very ecletic and well thought out. Loads of quality artwork to ponder while sipping and waiting for the bathroom. I could have easily wondered around taking it all in, but it was dinner hour, and didn't want to be confused for a stalker. Ordered the veg chili with homebaked bread, a real treat in a$$ cold Roc winter. G/f ordered the reuben, my "litmus test." Passed with flying colors. 6 house taps: Saranac, CB, and Old Rasputin. All beers were very clean tasting. The house brown brewed for them by Custom Brewcrafters is a solid American Brown. I wouldn't rate it award winning as it previously won at GABF, but nonetheless, entirely enjoyable. I can envision how nice the back patio would be in the summer. History of how Hogans evolved is posted, a nic touch to add even more personality to the place. A nice place to go on Park Ave before it's time to go play with the big boys.
Jeers: The Apricot wasn't available (seasonal). Too many people "trying" to be cool by ordering the expensive wines. only one toilet could lead to wet pants. Get in line 1/2 way through pint to avoid this.

Hogan's Hideaway is cool place located on Park Ave. near S. Goodman St. in Rochester. While it's not a new place, as an occasional visitor, I always thought it had the potential for being a legitimate BeerFly destination and after a recent visit, I'm convinced it's worthy.
The draught beer selection is small, six handles, but quality. On the last visit, five of the six were craft, local craft brews in fact. Bonus points for that. Three are house beers brewed by Custom Brewcrafters - Hogan's Pale Ale, Hogan's Park Ave Ale (both former GABF medal winners) and Hogan's Apricot Blonde. I believe the Apricot house brew rotates in and out as a seasonal. The other three draughts also rotate but on this occasion were; Ithaca Flower Power IPA and Flour City Brewing Black Magic Stout. Last and definitely least...filthy Rolling Rock. Bottles are nothing to get excited about, Anchor, Saranac, Sam, Pete's, Michael Shea's, Honey Brown and the usual macro suspects.
Atmosphere is laid back. The menu is eclectic, as is the clientele. Usually a few vegetarian selections are available. Bar area is small and rather cozy. Outside deck and sidewalk seating are available, weather permitting. Food is excellent. In my experience, service has always been very good. Not a place to go for a kick ass quantity selection but this is a great neighborhood place with a lot of character. If you're in the Park Ave area I recommend stopping in for some beers and a good meal.
