Atmosphere is OK they have a bunch of TV's, pool tables, and one shuffle board. The service is OK but later at night as the place seems to get packed the service seems to become slower and slower. The selection isn't bad but all of their selection is on the "safer" side of craft beer. They generally dont have anything special on tap, any DIPA, or any RIS. This is the place I get friends to go to so I can have a decent beer and watch a game or a fight. Food is very average nothing special pizza, burgers, wings etc etc all of the normal bar food. As I said overall it is an OK place but not my first choice if I'm up on the NE side of town.

I went to this place to meet a friend from high school and her husband, who were in town to watch the Packers and Falcons in the playoffs. We sat with the "Packer Backers" in a large room off to the side of the main bar area, and the place was PACKED. So I guess take my review in that spirit, that it was probably not the typical night at Fox & Hound, which has an exemplary reputation around town as far as I have seen.

I liked the atmosphere. Lots of TV's without it giving off a sports bar vibe. A diverse crowd of young hipsters, cute girls and folks in their 30's and 40's whom I suspect were there just for the game.

I have to say the service was exemplary. There were three servers for the huge room of at least 75 people watching the game (probably more), and they were hustling the whole time. Never once did I wait long for a refill. I actually showed up late, and even though the place was packed they found me a barstool without hesitation and set me up in an area where they'd then have to move around me to get past. I appreciated that.

They have a decent selection of beer. Not the best I've ever seen, especially bottles, but the draft selection is good. I ordered a Gumballhead, and it tasted great. I ordered a Robert the Bruce on tap, and they brought me another Gumballhead. The server said the keg of Robert the Bruce blew and they were out. I dislike situations like that, and I think they should compensate you when you order something on the menu and they don't have it, but I understand and didn't hold that against them.

All in all, the drinks were a tad pricey but still within a reasonable range. I had a good time and appreciated how hard the staff worked to accommodate a bunch of idiot football fans. I hope to visit again soon.

If you work in the service industry they've got a special card that you can get for $2.00 pints of whatever they have on draft on Tuesdays. The bar features three main rooms. The main room has tables and is more set up for food or dining. The room to the left has something like 8-10 pool tables and leads to a game room. The room to the right has additional booths and two more pool tables. The draft selection was very surprising. They had something like 18-24 taps, covering Founders, Goose Island, Sam Adams, and others. The bottle selection was very good. They had bombers from Goose Island and had Founders Breakfast Stout among others. Overall this was a pretty classy place and catered to those who don't just buy macros. I'd recommend it.

One of the reason I like going to a pub better than a regular beer bar sometimes is that old nostalgic feel and the decor. I think I like the ambience of places that seem like there older even if there not. I like this place because it's a nice mix. It still has modern attractions mixed with an older feel. The service is always friendly which is a plus and it's pretty quick but can slow down with a crowd. Food is nothing unusual for bar fare but it's good bar fare. Sadly there isn't much on tap that makes it worth it any more than another place though they might have one or two nice micros on tap if your lucky. The selection of bottles is the real draw. They have lots of good micros from local breweries and beyond. If you want a place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere (when it's not too loud) while you drink a beer then that would be the main reason to get your bottles here.

Not a bad place. This is your typical pub/sports bar with wood decor and lots of TVs. It's not usually very smoky which is a plus. There are a lot of pool tables in very good condition with some nice cues - also a plus. The service is not bad. Food is your typical bar food, and isn't bad. The beer selection is nothing to write home about, and the tap selection alone is not even worth looking twice at. Usually they have a Sam Adams seasonal, plus one or two not very threatening craft brews on tap, like Oberon. However, the bottled selection is pretty good. Chimay Blue, Three Floyds, Samuel Smith, Youngs, Paulaner, Bell's, etc. Lots of good stuff. I go back pretty often when I'm on the north side now that Chalkies went downhill, but I still wish there was a real beer bar nearby.

The Fox and Hound Pub is a good place to go and watch a game, get some dinner, and enjoy a beer. The atmosphere is decent, but can be a little over-crowded and noisy, especially on the weekends. The service is usually pretty good, but the bartenders and servers don't always know a lot about the beers they serve. They have really good food, but what you really want to know about is the beer.

The beer selection is pretty good, about 20-25 taps, and probably 60-70 bottled beers, but the rotation is fairly stagnant, and there really isn't much in the way of bold beers. They do serve in frosted glasses, and sometimes, with no glass at all, so be sure to request a warm glass.

On the positive side, they have a good air filtering system, so the smoke doesn't get in the way of your brew.

Fox and Hound has become one of my favorites of late. They have a good selection of beers on tap (~25), which changes seasonally. The selection covers quite a few styles (not many dupes). They have about 50 selections of bottled beer.

For your non-beer-drinking friends, Fox and Hound has a wide selection of finer liquors. They also have a nice selection of cigars (so I'm told).

The food is pretty good. It includes typical pub fare, as well as some great steaks. The menu includes beer recommendations for some of the food items.

The staff is fairly knowledgeable about beer, but they seem to be shorthanded quite a bit and the service can be rather slow on a crowded night.

Fox and Hound is a combo of an English pub and an American sports bar. It's comfortable, it has a good air filtration system so the smoke won't kill you. Last, but certainly not least, you can watch any NHL game, just ask to get the game on a nearby screen.
