This is a farly new joint located in the westernmost reaches of the trendy Meat packing district of NYC. Keep going west on little west 12 th st. untill you see it on the uptown side of the street. Clean, spartan, light wood interior theme, 2 bars are located along the left side upon entering. In the rear there are a few tables and there is a large skylight above to give some much need athmosphere. Brews are plentiful, about 20 taps of mostly drinkable stuff, and some tap wasters. A bunch of respectable bottled choices kept in coolers behind the bar. Dont expect anything hard to find , but you will be able to find something worthwhile, friendly barkeep (dressed in all black , of course) I imagine this place fills with trendoids and tourists in the evenings. Dont think I would ever go back , as the Blind Tiger is only about a 10 min walk away.

Facts:
This bar has three floors. First floor opens with a smaller/narrower room with small tables and chairs on one side, intended for parties and people who get their early enough to snag some breathing room. As you continue through, you get to a cavernous back room with a staircase to the right and the bar to the left. The second floor as another long room with mostly standing room (didn't notice anyone sitting) and a bar on the right. Up another flight brings you to the rooftop. The rooftop is pretty basic, there is no bar, limited seating, and limited views. Average selection of beers on tap, had a Magic Hat #9 and a Guiness.

Opinion:
The bar itself is right up my ally: Dark wood, nice finishes on the furniture, lots of space. The problem is that it is woefully overcrowded. Me and three friends went on a saturday night and got there at 10:30pm . Upon arriving we were greeted by the standard Meat Packing District line. Not a big deal , because we weren't standing in line for very long. Once inside, we had to walk straight through the first room of tables and chairs as there was no available seats, and not likely to be any in the foreseeable future. The second room on the first floor was large, but there was a hundred people in there easily. Once we got some beers (Beers averaged $6-7, not bad for the area) we headed up to the second floor and found it even more crowded, so we pushed on to the rooftop. Again another overcrowded floor with no wiggle room. Constantly bumped and rubbed-up on by other people. Went back down to the first floor and decided beer would solve my claustrophobia. The service was exceptional. As I am not a leggy blonde with double Ds, I wasnt expecting to garner attention from the bartenders quickly. But to my surprise, as soon as I approached the bar, the attentive pourers saw me and asked what i would like to have. Mind you this was while standing behind a row of loud, chatty patrons sitting at the bar itself. Got my first beer, walked around, decided another was necessary. Same scenario, same result: instant recognition, good pour, beer in hand. The service was the highlight of the night.
Sidenote, lots of people and plenty of potential to mingle.

Overall Impression:
Beautiful space, overcrowded, very noisy, decent selection at a moderate price, spectacular service.

Got carded at the door at 8pm which was funny but was ok.. The bar was already packed and everywhere we went booths and tables were reservedfor later. the bartender told us we could have out in a reserved section til 10pm then have to move...which was cool with me and my friends.

The beer selection was ok

i had a goose island ipa and asked if they got any other selections from goose island...i got excited cause he went to the beer cool and brought back a purple haze...huh? he admitted he didnt know about beer.

overall staff that is cool but limited idea on what a good craft beer is

Went here for a birthday party a few months ago and was very excited to finally be making my way over there. The place is huge and packed. There were a ton of people there and we had to fight to get upstairs. Once on the roof we quickly determined that we were not going to have a good time getting jostled back and forth by the crowd so we made our way inside. Somehow we snagged a table which was great or I don't know if we would have stayed. The beer list was OK-nothing really impressive and the service was standard. Plus it's a bit on the expensive side probably because it's in the meatpacking district. I had a good time but I'm not in any rush to go back.

Stumbled in here on a pub crawl and wasnt too impressed. we were actually there to meet a friend from back home. It was late during the hardcore drinking hours so I didnt get to really have a chance to experience it. The selection is decent on Big name beers and booze and is more of a club then anything. Beer drinkers should stay away if your looking for a Beer bar. It did however have a lot of good looking girls dancing around on the back dance floor and is a decent stop if yourlooking to mingle with a good crowd.
