Bottle dated APR2014.

Poured into a porter glass.

1 finger light tan head disipated quickly leaving a layer of foam over a clear dark amber brew with a stead stream of bubbles refreshing the head.

Slight skink at first, but then oak and rum, malt and bread.

Good news, none of the skunk makes it to the flavor. Bright, refreshing, slightly sweet, flowery, a little hop bitter in the middle, nicely rounded in the aftertaste. I can taste the rum, maybe some raisins. It is a rather delightful, and distinct flavor.

The mouthfeel is a medium body with plenty of effervescence.

This is a fine brew. The oak rum barrel chips lend a distinctive and very desirable flavor.

Deep amber color. Rapidly decaying just-off-white head.

Nice mix of rum and wood in the aroma, but it is not as assertive as I would have liked.

Sweetness up front, from both the Scotish Ale base, and the the rum barrel. The rum makes for nice accents, but the base beer seems weak in terms of taste.

Not as full a mouthfeel as I expected.

Decent but not great.

Not bad, seems slightly better than the last rum beer from Innis & Gunn I had but I'm not sure it was much different - probably just the name that was changed & the alcohol content lowered slightly.

11.2-oz bottle into stout glass

A - 2 fingers of light tan over a transparent body of ruby/orange; high in visible carbonation

S - wooden with notes of rum; very pleasant

T - caramel sweetness, dark fruits, wood, boozy notes show up in the finish

M - smooth medium/full body, moderate carbonation, dry/boozy/warming finish

O - a decent Scottish ale; the rum oak chips keep this one interesting

Decent brew that I'm glad I tried but doubt I would seek it out again.
