Catch up rating from notes, 2012: Bottle from the BritShop on Ramstein. Pours out a nice dark brown, but clear, small half finger tan head. Rum is readily apparent in the aroma, caramel malts, woody notes. The rum also brings sweetness to the malts, along with what seems like a very boozy vibe. Nice feel overall, and despite the seemingly boozy flavor and warmth, it's not that strong of a beer.

Unknown vintage; drank 9/8/15 @ the Yarchives.
Semi-opaque red/purple appearance.
Nice tan head; nice lace.
Candle wax, plum & mild cinnamon notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Raisin, cinnamon & rum flavors up front; candle wax notes on the finish.
Too sweet, but still enjoyable.

From the 11.2 oz bottle in a snifter. This rather fine ale pours a
nice medium dark mahogany with a nice head of off white foam
that subsides to a thick ring, thin film, and displays some rather
nice sudsy lacing. Nose of rum, vanilla, brown sugars, and subtle
orchard fruit notes. Flavors surpass the nose with mild oak, sweet
rum. brown sugars, hints of peach and raisin, touches of toffee,
nice mild vanilla, and a hint of herbal hops. Very nice mouth feel;
medium light carbonation, medium body, and a sweet and mildly
dry finish.
Excellence in a glass from a fantastic brewer.
Cheers

This bottle says 6.8%. The bottom line is that it needs more alcohol. Some potential there..

L: brilliant brown with ruby highlights under a 1" cream colored foam cap with fair retention and light lace
S: rum, alcohol, fruit, a hint of mustiness, dark dried fruit, a hint of vanilla and traces of nuts, coconut, oak, raisins and plum
T: Light chocolate, toffee, rum and a hint of coffee start the flavors supported by fruit, nuts, plums, raisins and a touch of vanilla. It finishes with a light fruity tartness and a lingering dry malty toffee taste
F: The body and carbonation are medium
O: a very fine, well built, subtle and layered beer. The Scottish Ale and the rum go very well together with neither overpowering the other
