Poured a 330-ml bottle into a draught glass.
Appearance - dark copper colour with a short, sustaining beige head of foam, about 1/4-inch. Notable carbonation with fine lacing as the glass is emptied.
Smell - very similar to Innis & Gunn's Oak Aged Beer, with a woody, smoky aroma. This however has a denser caramel malt scent, cool and soft on the nose.
Taste - up front it is all caramel and then a soft breakthrough to the oaky, cascading malt flavour. Alcohol is noticable and not as subtle as the other offerings from these guys. Finish is relatively dry also with a soft warmth of light hops.
Mouthfeel - pretty good in terms of balance, not too active for the flavour. This is one that really coats the mouth, creating memories on the teeth and tongue.
Drinkability - goes down dramatically easy for the ABV. I probably wouldn't have more than one or two of these as they are pretty expensive and would be a bit of an event to enjoy.
