The bottle poured out a reddish copper color with a one finger high off-white head. The head dissipated to lace moderately and left a halo at the top. The aromas crept out with a sweet vanilla fragrance coupled with spices. The flavors experienced started with light fruits, progressing to spices, some peat, and vanilla. The catch here is at the end of the beer, where the vanilla infused rum flavors take a more pronounced role. With a light to medium body and light carbonation, this beer is a wonderful jump from the norm.
What really takes the cake here are the rum flavors infused with peat and vanilla. I think this beer does a great job of expressing individuality of a brewery as well as experimentation of beer styles. In my opinion this beer is in a beerstyle of its own.
