Bottle: embossed 330mL clear bottle with the standard Innis & Gunn label.
Appearance: pours a ruby-tinted dark brown with a short-lived off-white head. Very little lacing.
Aroma: smells of liquorice, raisins, molasses and a touch of that rum. Quite interesting.
Taste: a very smooth toffee, molasses and spice flavour up front. The rum and raisin joins in after a second.
Aftertaste: a touch of bitterness with an overriding sweetness. The vanilla and rum come through strongest on the finish.
Mouth feel: quite smooth, with limited carbonation. Suits the style well.
Overall: another great beer from Innis & Gunn - very different, a bit of a riot in the mouth to be honest. On balance, taking price into consideration, I would probably prefer their Spiced Rum Finish, as it is around 75% the cost.
