Bottle in 2017. Amber in color with very little head. Strong aroma, although time hasn't done this any favors with a corn sweetness the most prominent note. Taste is similar, but with some wood undertones. Solid beer.

Poured into a pint glass. A one-inch head came and went in a few minutes, leaving enough foam for a surprising amount of lacing. The smell is a bit on the mild side, rum and vanilla, a slight maltiness... and there's nothing wrong with that. The taste is quite good, rum. oak barrel and vanilla rise above the faint hops , but enough malt is there to provide the 'scotch' aspect to this beer. I noticed a bit of 'cola' aftertaste as the beer warmed. The mouthfeel is a bit watery, but the overall brew is good, and the taste is the best quality here. The 6.8% ABV is refreshingly light compared to the Scotch Ales I usually prefer. I'm sure I will buying more than this single I got in a make your own sixpack, Cheers, me lads!

Very dark, almost purple cherry colour, with barely one finger of fizzy off-white head. Quite pretty. On the nose, an odd, "wet dog" sort of smell, and a bit of ethanol. Not much else. The flavour is quite big. Sweet, dark fruit, mostly, and the barrel wood does impart its flavour as well. Ethanol is noticeable but unobtrusive, quite well managed for its 6.8% ABV. Can't tell if there's a very subtle hops presence, or if that hint of bitterness is just from roasted malt. Either way it's very subtle. This one is definitely on the sweet side. Goes down pretty nice but I don't think I'd drink more than two in a sitting. Overall interesting and enjoyable, but by no means a go-to.

A sweet rummy flavour with harsh alcoholic taste. Lacking in depth. Not for me.

330 ml clear bottle in cardboard box, now available in Norway (Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget) - also at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 7.4%. Clear mahogany coloured beer with an off-white to beige head. Intense aroma of oak rum cask, notes of vanilla, spices, alcohol, brown sugar, treacle, rum-raisin and dark dried fruits. The flavour is distinctly oaky, but more mellow and rounded (without the strong notes of fresh wood) compared to the ordinary Innis & Gunn. Moderate sweetness, moderate notes of rum and spices, dry finish, very moderate hops. Should not be drunk too cold.

Look: Extremely dark brown, black unless you hold it up to light. Small white head with decent retention.

Smell: Citrus, a little yeast and malt, and a sweet undercurrent.

Taste: A subdued porter flavor with minimal roasted flavor. A little hop bitterness mixed with that sweetness.

Mouthfeel: A little thick and decent carbonation.

Overall: Not really detecting a lot of rum, but still a good beer.

Brown with an amber tint. There's a quarter inch of densely creamy light brown to beige on top. The aroma is a blend of caramel, cola, oak, dark rum, and German bittering hops. I taste the oak and sweet rum along with caramel and alcohol. The mouth is a bit thick and warm with alcohol. Hard to believe it is only 6.8%.
