Picked this up in a gift box with the attractive cervoise glass and 3 Innis & Gunn offerings.
Pours a dark red, clear color, with a tan head of 3 fingers that features good retention and lacing. Aromas include the rum alcohol, with a sweet, woody character. Also aromas of nuts, allspice and fruits.
The taste has an overall sweet and malty flavor, with oak and rum prominent but not overdone. Also flavors of dark fruits. A slight bitterness is there to keep the sweetness in check. Smooth drinking, with a fairly high amount of carbonation. The body seemed a bit light compared with other wee heavies. Finish is malty and semi-sweet, with nice spice and rum notes.
Overall a very good beer, although not as interesting as the original Innis & Gunn version.
