A- Pours a gold color with pink tinges and is super clear. The carbonation appears to be rather aggressive and the head is more or less non existent...but there is a ring around the glass and it's super white and open bubbled. The lacing is somewhat oily and really doesn't leave any protein to cling to the glass.

S- A blend of fresh, sweetened, and frozen strawberry overtakes the aroma profile...nothing much else....perhaps some sweet malts, biscuit and yeast blended in to help smooth everything out. Hop bitterness is negligent!

T- Pure and utter strawberry, more like a cooler or carbonated juice though. It really is awesome.....nothing else really going on here....just malt, strawberry goodness, biscuit softness and summer!

M/O- Light bodied and palate cleansing carbonation contribute to this being a pleasing summertime beverage, that doesn't resemble beer. It is better than a cooler and made with real jubilee strawberry juice....will definitely buy again and I cant wait actually....a real pleasure!

Decent summer brew, lightweight, a little sweet. Not quite as good as a Fruli, which has more character.

Good looking beer, pale rose colour with soapy white head and lots of lace. All about strawberries in the nose and to taste, not really "beerish". Honest strawberry taste. Very light on the palate, sweetness won't be to everyone's taste. Drink fine as summertime fluff, low ABV so you can put away a ton of 'em and not know until it's too late.

Yeah, I'd have another one.

Appearance- Pours a pinkish-amber with a half finger of bubbly head.

Smell- strawberry jam, lightly toasted grains, biscuity malts.

Taste- Homemade strawberry jam, grains, malts... almost like a natural soda. Strawberry flavour is refreshingly natural (not like artificial candy).

Mouthfeel - Light to medium bodied with light carbonation.

Overall- A tasty strawberry brew, but tastes more like a soda rather than a lager.

It may be strawberry beer but it's not strawberry coloured, which, frankly, is a bit of a relief. The coppery tone suggests that real, unadulterated fruit juice is in fact likely all this recipes uses (no artificial colours or concentrates). But while this speaks to integrity it doesn't necessarily help aesthetics; most fruit beers look better than they are - here's hoping this is the opposite.

Smelling it, you'd swear you stuck your nose in a jar of strawberry jam. Is there pectin in this? The aroma is, relatively speaking, only mildly sweet but still distinctly jammy. (Perhaps a characteristic of these Scottish Jubilee strawberries? I've never tried them.)

Whereas the bouquet smacks unmistakably of strawberry jam, the profile in the flavour falls under the more general 'field berry' moniker. Make no mistake, the taste of strawberries is indisputable but it's a bit less conspicuous on the palate. Still only softly sweet, it also drinks with just a tinge of tart acidity. A restrained fruit beer with no synthetic feel whatsoever.

The juice is clearly the highlight, though there's some maltiness in there too. Like the fruit flavour, it has a rather gentle, moderate character but its dry, cereal graininess is unequivocally appreciated. The aftertaste lightly resembles a granola and berries breakfast.

Melville's Strawberry Lager is pretty underwhelming, though undeniably pleasant. What makes it each of those things simultaneously is its lack of excessive, hyper-stimulating, caricatural fruitiness. It may not be delicious, but at least it's not as fake as a Twinkie.

275ml bottle poured into pint glass 13/5/13

A clear light copper with a shit load of bubbles but only a thin faintly pink film that stays as a thin film and leaves no lace

S strawberry smuckers jam with some sweet grains, It`s so straight forward and I don`t want to like it but I do

T mimics the smell but with a little basic lager yeast, tastes like a strawberry candy, again its simple but much better then I expected

M thin but well carbonated, the finish is like a juice with some fruity sweetness

O tastes like fake synthetic strawberries almost so much I actually get some sweet tiny alpine strawberries that I used to pick hiking the hills in BC, so fake its real

a summer swiller that`s gone in an instant, I know its a small bottle but it had a very short lifespan. I could have another and I hate to admit it but I could knock a few of these back no problem. Sweet and simple, I can see this selling well over the Summer

From 250mL bottle in a tulip.

Bland, thin salmon colour... like the spring shorts worn by douchebags the world over. Minimal head dissipates quickly.

Nice strawberry aroma, but not much else going on. Slight yeast. While underwhelming, this is what I was expecting from such a brew.

The flavours are simple too, but they are also much milder than I'd like from a fruit beer. I feel like the light lager style maybe does not match up nicely to fruit added beer. Quite sweet, with a very slight bitter, leafy edge. Lacking in carbonation.

This is like a really dumbed down version of a Fruli, or a Lambic beer. More watered down than I would have liked, but definitely easy to drink & refreshing.

275ml bottle. I&G are brewing lagers now, and instead of letting them stand on their own merit, chose to flavour them, as they've done here, with Scottish Jubilee strawberries. Hell, it hit plus 30 today, so why not?

This beer pours a clear, bright orange-infused amber hue, with two fingers of bubbly, thinly foamy pink-tinted head, which leaves nothing but a low berm of surface lace around the glass as it quickly dissipates.

It smells of sweet, fruity strawberry juice, fieldberry jam, where those fields primarily grew strawberries, some pie crust (mostly by dint of association, I imagine) pale grainy malt, and a bit of green, leafy bitterness. The taste is still strawberries, sure, but more or less stripped of their straight-up sweet fruitiness, and now exhibiting the more earthy, leafy, and well, soil-like side of nature's equation. The pale malt continues to just play dead, perhaps in the hope that it won't be blamed for its inaction.

The carbonation is quite minimal, just enough to differentiate this from another sort of beverage, the body medium-full in weight, but that's really the glucose/fructose talking, sticky, and pretty smoothie, uh, I mean smooth. It finishes sweet, fruity (more of a mixed bag now, with some cherry and black currant esters mucking about), and a tad bitter, more seed-like than hoppy.

Well, once again, truth in advertising, this is indeed a strawberry beer, where you take the good with the bad, as far as what a 'beer' should be. Big and fruity, with the underlying pale lager really just there as a delivery mechanism. Refreshing to a point, and like the ginger lager before it, not a desirable candidate for further 'investigation'.
