Tastes like Innis & Gunn but ten times more bitter! Nice dark burgundy colour, very sweet semlling and lots of molasses and syrup going on here. Very bitter, from the treacle. Not something I'd buy again, but still worth the try, better than many other beers! (259 characters)

A fairly basic porter, courtesy of the LCBO. Pours slightly brown without a lasting head. Slight molasses smell. A tad light mouthfeel. Not very interesting or that drinkable. A somewhat acidic finish. Tastes slightly boozy. Just not a very good porter. (253 characters)

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a medium size foamy head with medium retention and limited lacing. Aroma of caramel malt with toffee notes and some whisky notes. Taste is a well rounded mix between some caramel malt with some whisky notes and some light toffee but overall mix is not overly sweet. Body is light with somewhat of an oily texture and good carbonation. Enjoyable though there is something in the aftertaste that I am having a hard time identifying but is common with this brewer that I more or less enjoyed. (533 characters)

Clear 330ml bottle: they've dropped the 'Winter' on the label, but it's the same beer I'm sure.

Poured into a Westmalle chalice at home on 26 Nov 13. The colour was pleasant enough, a mahogany red, clean and clear, the head dissipating a little too quickly for me.

Very, very sweet in both the nose and taste: malty molasses completely dominate everything and treacle seems to be the main flavour from those molasses, the front label claims treacle is actually added to the brew. I like the sweeter, maltier brews, but this was too much, even for me. It may well be matured for 39 days, but adding too much treacle hides whatever the maturing was supposed to bring out, or put in.

Managed to drink it all of course, but I'll not be seeking out another in a hurry. (766 characters)

Bottle from the Ottawa LCBO for $5 or so

Appearance - Brown colour with a large size beige coloured head. It's too dark to see the carbonation showing and there is some fair lacing. The head lasted for around 4-5 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Grains, dark fruits?, malts

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste a smokiness, a bit of wood, caramel, and malts. There is also some dark fruit flavour and a hint of vanilla.

Overall - Probably not worth the price tag, but this is a pleasant tasting brew. Perhaps something that would work well to introduce others to craft beer. None of the flavours are very pronounced. (660 characters)
