I've had this before in growler form. Got this one one out a gift pack for christmas. Pours an orange amber with a very small fizzy head that effervesces away immediately, reducing to nothing. Carbonation is visible. Smell is sweet. Toffee and caramel, bready and something wacky that smells old and unpleasant. Taste is also sweet and bready, a lot of malt, some wine-like qualities. The unpleasant smell is not in the taste. The mouthfeel is not very carbonated as the bubbles suggest, and is a bit slimy. Not a bad drink, and at a good price not a bad choice.

My first beer from Opa Opa out of Mass. Honestly not a brewery I've even heard of despite being around for quite some time. I was in the mood for simple flavors and classic styles when I was at the store, so I picked this up on a whim. Let's see what this one is all about
Pours a slightly cloudy orange brown with 2 fingers of white head that quickly fades to a thin cap and leaves minimal lacing
This is pretty sweet in the nose, at least by amber ale standards. I'm picking up on aromas of chewy caramel, apple skin, doughy malt, a hint of white pepper, and light citrusy hops
Unfortunately, this falls apart in translation to taste, converting the sweetness to watered down flavors. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting doughy malt and earthy hops. The swallow brings notes of red apple, sweet malt, and a touch of clove
A medium full body pairs with mild tingling carbonation, resulting in a slick beer that's surprisingly refreshing for the bland taste. Finishes mostly dry with a decent amount of sweetness
This was pretty average overall, really nothing special and rather sweet for the style

An easy pour from a 16-oz. can reveals a finger sized light beige head with average retention and minimal lacing.
Hazy translucent deep orange-amber color, looks yellow amber in front of light.
Smells of bread dough, spicy hops, sweet malt and stone fruit.
Taste begins tangy and semi-sweet from caramel malt and yeast, plum and grape appear during the middle as dryer roasted malt moves in. The finish lasts with rich malt, spicy hops and apple cider sweetness. Hops and sweet malt lingers a while.
Medium body, above average carbonation. Light on bitterness, evenly semi-sweet.
Smooth and balanced, alcohol is hard to detect. Sweeter and less bitter than average.
