Poured from growler purchased at Whole Foods in Dedham, MA.
Deep copper color and rather clear. About an inch of head that dissipates to a nice lacing that sticks on the sides of the glass.
Smells of cinnamon, nutmeg spices, malts. Pretty typical winter warmer type smell.
Mouthfeel is light with moderate carbonation. Pretty easy drinking.
Starts off with the cinnamon taste. Not overpowering. Malts come in and finishes sweet with hints of grains, grass.
A solid and straightforward winter warmer. My first Opa Opa growler. One note is that this was the fullest growler I’ve ever had. They clearly cap on foam , trying to keep their growlers fresh as they’re sold in stores around MA. Can’t complain about that.

Pours a brown body with an orange foamy head. Has reddish brown hues, the looks of an IPA, but more transparent in tint. The head dwindles down and yields a thin lacing. Hints of chocolate aroma, a little sweetness and hints of spices. The taste is uniquely lighter than my expectations, with a sweeter palate than most winter warmers. A light crispy taste that opens and closes with cinnamon spices. Doesn't leave a blandness. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is good.

Poured from a growler. Having had warmers from other companies, I would say this is right down the center. Some taste more like they should be simply called Cinnamon Beer. Opa-Opa's Winter Warmer is not one of those. It is well spiced without an overwhelming tast of cinnamon. The carbonation is just right. This is my third growler from Opa-Opa, each a different brew. So far, I put this one second behind their seasonal porter.

Poured from a 2010 growler, an English strong ale according to the label. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow, decent head with great lacing. Smells of rich maltiness, some oak, vanilla, touch of caramel and lavender like notes. Tastes of sweet vanilla like malt with a nice subtle oak backbone. Bitterness fairly low leading to a slightly sweet finish. Carbonation is low.
A surprisingly drinkable beer. While technically an English strong ale by the label, and having characteristics of a strong ale, this is really not too overwhelming. The strong vanilla notes, the hungarian oak and overall sweetness all work really well together. Not the most complex beer in the world, but by far the most drinkable of this style.

Reviewed from notes taken on the 7th. Pours a light amber with a one finger head. Retention is alright and a ring is left around the sides of the top after the head dies down. Light lacing is left as this one falls down the glass. Smell is decent but has a strange scent that bothers me. The good is some spices like nutmeg and even something that smells like milk. It reminds me of the winter holidays until I get this funky smell. Not like brett funk, like bad funk. Another problem is this one doesn't really have beer aspects in the nose (malts, hops). The taste is good but also isn't much like beer to me. It almost tastes like a cookie. I can taste bready/dough with sugar, ginger and nutmeg. It is really an odd/interesting taste. I also get some hops and malts but not enough to surpass the dessert taste. If the spices were toned down, this one would be a better beer. Mouthfeel was a bit watery feeling. The medium carbonation is fine. There is no creamy feeling, just water. Coat of spices is left on the tongue. For DB, the spices take over too much. The price however was very good for a growler. Hopefully the other offerings by OPA OPA are better.

Beer is a dark copper with a small offwhite head. Better head than I've gotten out of other Opa Opa brews about a finger-ish. Carbonation looks good and lacing is decent. Smell is spices, nutmeg, cinnamon. Big cinnamon taste, malt, hint of vanilla, nutmeg, pepper. Mouthfeel is relatively watery and thin. A bit too spicy for my likings.

6.99 for the growler, +$2 dep.
A- A dark amber, minimal head.
S- Cinnamon, caramel sweetness, although tame. Nothing out of the ordinary, but pretty good.
T- Not nearly as sweet as the nose indicates... But still a faint caramel apple sweetness with a mild malt. Not as heavy in flavor or body as the color/nose would indicate. Fairly spiced, which does wonders for wrapping the whole package together.
M- A bit lighter than expected, but pretty damn good going down.
D- High. I can drink this pretty damn well. I'd peg the ABV around 5.5-6%.. This beer is very drinkable, pretty tasty, and very affordable. I will buy some more... love getting growlers

Served on-tap in a 20-oz. imperial pint at the Brewmaster's Tavern adjacent to the Opa-Opa Brewery in Williamsburg, Mass.
A: Poured a medium, amber brown color with a one-finger head of frothy, off-white foam.
S: Smells sweet and spicy, with noticeable scents of ground cinnamon, nutmeg and a dash of vanilla.
T: A crisp and fairly basic ale flavored with those spice shavings mentioned above. A crisp, clean malt profile with low bitterness flavored with fresh cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Like the eggnog of beers.
M: Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pretty drinkable, unless you're not the sweet and spice type at the holidays.
D: A good winter warmer and one not overdone with the spices. I tasted a bit of citrus and smooth vanilla, which could have been my imagination, but improved the drinkability for me.
Not the best winter warmer out there, and actually, it's fairly generic. But, it's done right and makes for a good winter session ale with that holiday spice added to it. Nice work by Opa-Opa.

On tap at the brewpub. Light honey colored with a low wispy off-white head. Buttery aroma, with some cinnamon. Full and rich flavor upfront of predominantly cinnamon and secondarily nutmeg, and some vanilla. A bit sweet, very spicy, not too much malt getting through. A little too spiced for me and not a good food accompanniment. Could not finish a pint. Moderate mouthfeel, not overly carbonated.
