Just got back from Julios, saw that they had exclusive beer they sell in growlers for only 8.49. Had to try the saison.

Appearance - Pours a medium to light orange with about a 2 fingered head when poured vigorously. Fluffy head but dissipates really quickly, while it sits in the glass it is almost clear with no trace of lacing or even a head for that matter, kind of a turn off.

Aroma - This is where the beer shines i feel. A great funk, barnyard, grassy, astringent blast right to your nostrils. The smell of this beer is wonderful and begs for the first sip.

Taste - Definitely follows the nose. Barnyard and belgian yeast right up front, almost a Brett taste, the astringency is in the back with grassy notes. A pretty damn spot on saison.

Mouthfeel - To me this is where the beer lacks. The head has quickly faded away and the carbonation feels like it is missing something, it could be because it came from the growler so please keep that in mind. However it is a little wishy washy and thin.

Overall - For 8.49 a growler at 8.5 abv you really can't go wrong with this stuff, if i was closer to the place i would buy this as a regular beer often. Great smell and decent tasting beer, i am enjoying it!

Picked up a growler of this Julio's exclusive saison. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden wheat with a fizzy one finger head that fades almost immediately to leave no halo or side lacing. Kinda odd and unsatsifying.

S - Light wheat and malts with some faint citrus and funk. I'm getting an odd metallic aroma though at the start.

T - Better than the nose. There is some nice light wheat and citrus notes along with some gentle funk. Not bad flavors, just somewhat standard. Nothing that is out of the ordinary and the ABV isnt really present.

M - Nice crisp, semi dry. Quite refreshing with a good amount of carbonation. The ABV is just slightly noticeable.

O - Overall, I thought this was an okay saison. Fairly average, but you dont often see saisons in growlers let alone for $8. I would buy this as an introduction to saisons, but that about it.

Bought from Julio's yesterday. Saw a Saison in a growler and thought, yes please! Only available at Julio's in MA. Tag says it's 8.5% on the back.

Pours a golden color with a tint of orange, decent sized white head but the odd thing is the way it fades, huge head bubbles fizzle away at a rapid pace and leave nary a trace that they existed.

Smell starts off with a bit of a yeasty aroma with light touches of citrus and spice while the backbone is the sweet malt.

Taste is light and crisp, carbonation is bubbly and lends a softness, the sweet malt has the largest presence coupled with a subtle spiciness, finishes dry with a bit of a citrus element, if this Saison is 8.5% it certainly doesn't show it.

Pours a rich head fades semi slowly with lots of lacing, hazy golden wheat color.

Nose light wheat, light creamy, malts, light spices, citrus, light sweet malts, bit toasted wheat malts.

Taste is light citrus, spices, sweet malts, light bitterness from citrus hops, bright, wheat, drier finish, with a bit of fruit and lingering toasted wheat. THe spices start a bit hot but fade quickly to a nice balance.

Med body with lower but decent enough carbonation.

Overall not bad, a nice saison, lighter, drinkable, nice spices don't go overboard, light citrus and semi sweet toasty malts, the carbonation is a bit low for the style, but for a growler not bad.
