Appearance: Hazy golden yellow, like egg-yolk, with a prominent, dense snow-white head, and scattered, Belgian-style lacing.

Aroma: Lots of earthy yeast, a little coriander, some ripe bananas, and some lemon rind.

Taste: Sour and earthy wheat notes open the taste, soon followed by lemon and banana. Later in the taste, moderate herbal hop notes balance the sweetness. Spicy notes abound with coriander prominent and lesser cloves as well. There are notable leafy hops at the close.

Mouth feel: Fairly full, with somewhat zesty carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: A decent example of the style, although lacking compared to Hoegaarden or Alagash White. Its a pity that we have to taste so many beers before we can judge them adequately. Still, a very nice example for summer, not so much for autumn, when it is offered.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice. (926 characters)

The beer poured a slightly hazy straw yellow with a significant white head that left very little lacing. The aroma held the typical spices and fruity Belgian yeast esters that are typical of the style. The taste followed suit with the coriander and citrus notes you would expect, and they faded to a slightly bitter wheaty finish. I was really enjoying the spicy fruity start to this brew and found this witbier to be light and satisfying. The light carbonation danced on my tongue to keep me coming back for more of this refreshing brew. Definitely an ample antidote to the heat of summer. (590 characters)

Another CAN courtesy of the wondrous @JenRay, who knows and understands the importance of The CANQuest (TM)!

From the CAN: "Drink Me"; "Venture down the rabbit hols to experience White Rabbit, a delightfully hazy Belgian-style White Ale delicately spiced with orange zest, coriander and peppercorns. A pleasure to imbibe and a wonder to behold, White Rabbit demands you think and taste for yourself."; "Founded in Austin, Texas in 2004, Independence Brewing Co. is devoted to brewing boldly, living frrely, and creating original, hand-crafted ales of un[CAN]promising flavor and quality."; "Handcrafted in Austin, Texas".

It is too easy, but "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane is the soundtrack as I segue into the Crack! It goes off without a hitch and the inverted Glug produces a brief finger of foamy, bone-white head which behaves like it was pop and quickly dissipates. Color is a cloudy lemon-yellow (SRM = > 2, < 4). Nose smells especially of the orange zest, but I also get the coriander and a musty, yeasty scent as well. Mouthfeel is thin-to-medium and out of nowhere, the one-two combination of coriander followed by peppercorns takes me completely by surprise and I almost coughed with my mouth filled with beer as a result. Phew! Man, if you are a fan of "Ale Brewed With Spices" as delineated on the side of the CAN, you will get a real kick out of this. As for me, I found it a little bit over the top for my taste, but YMMV. Finish was Arid Extra Dry thanks to all of the spices inherent in this Rabbit. Wild, but not really my cuppa tea. (1,565 characters)
