hazy amber with a decent head. Smell was a muted hops, with definate hints of grain and even a slight caramel. Taste was a bit thin, but had a definate sugary touch to it. Hoppy dry finish with a tiny pine bite. Very drinkable. Overall this was a decent beer, I could see this being served in large numbers as it is very smooth and very drinkable

Poured from an Oklahoma Suks bottle, but this is the same beer.

The beer pours an amber color with a white head. The aroma is bread and some other malt notes, with a little bit of grain and some grass. The flavor is grass and bread. Fairly straight forward, but not bad. A nice, refreshing beer that is easy to drink. Thin to medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I am not a huge fan of amber ales, but this one is not bad.

Austin Amber pours a clear amber body beneath a short head of off-white that holds fairly well and leaves some minor lacing about the glass. The nose is malty with a touch of dark caramel, a hint of yeasty fruitiness, and some non-descript hops in the background.

The flavor is as might be expected, with a basic maltiness that's perked up a bit by some toasty and caramelish notes, and a thread of fruitiness. It's not big on hops, but it's not supposed to be; and it's appropriately balanced by a firm bitterness. It finishes quick and clean with just a touch of lingering maltiness.

It's a basic, refreshing and satisfying 'Austin-brau' that fits right in with a party at the neighbor's house, a pool party or BBQ, or night on the town. Worth trying.

UPDATE: Received a fresh can and the diacetyl is gone. Sometime's a touch cloying, but there is an interesting mix of toffee malt and fruit esters. However, now I'm getting a hit of other spoilage, like a little hit of Brett. I wouldn't drink another.

2011 Review:
Picked up a single at Whole Foods. Poured a clear amber brown with a tan head. The diacetyl is immediately evident in the aroma and flavor, really wrecking the beer. There's a pleasant nutty, bread crust undertone from the malts, but they have trouble standing out. There's a dry toffee finish, that if this were a cleaner beer, would be obvious and pleasing.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours ac clear amber with 2 fingers of poofy off-white head. Good creamy retention that sticks around and leaves a decent smattering of lace behind. The aroma is actually fairly thick smelling with notes of buttery bread and caramel sweetness with a touch of floral hops in the back.

The taste is similar but waaaay more muted. Light bread and caramel form the front with some even lighter hop bitterness pulling up the back. The mouthfeel is light-medium bodied but definitely on the lighter side of that, with lower carbonation and a little too much of a watery feel.

This one started out promising enough but unfortunately was undone by both the taste and body lacking any kind of depth. This went down OK but it definitely wasn't the highlight of my night or anything.

A- Dark amber, almost a brown, bright yellowish, creamy head. Head is persistent with steady carb. and thick persistent lacing.

S- Strong caramel malt scent, a bit sweet. A light molasses in background.

T- Sweet, then into a near-perfect blend of malt and bittering hops. fantastic aftertaste mix of all of these.

M- Light to medium,perhaps a bit thin.

O- Very nice. I've always appreciated this one a bunch.
