Barcade is the most unique and kick-ass beer bar in the area. 24 American beer on draft, no bottles, and a beer engine for cask offerings. We're talking a straight-up beer bar with excellent support for the local beer scene, which is something that I didn't see enough of during a recent trip to Brooklyn.

No real food, just chips and jerky from behind the bar, but you come to Barcade for the beer and ... video games! The bare, unfinished open-space interior is like a dank warehouse, but packed with loads of vintage arcade games that line the walls! Freagin' classic idea! 25 cents a pop. Old-school-style. They've even built make-shift wooden beer benches in-between each game so you can rest your pint of American beer while you're kicking some 80's ass!

Barcade should be at the top of you list if you're visiting the area, and make sure you ask your mom for a buck (you can get change at the bar).

Let's note that the area that Barcade is located is a bit shady ... I swear I heard someone scream out "Warriors come out and Play-ayyy!" before we entered. Barebones garage / warehouse look, lots of vintage video games ... awesome touch by having 2-by-4's in-between each game to rest your beer on. About 24 brewed on tap with one cider ... all are American craft, one cask within the mix. Some specials on as well; Heavyweight Cinged Hammer, Southampton Grand Cru & Blue Point Imp Stout on cask. Most were from the Mid-Atlantic and New England.

By far the most interesting concept for a beer bar I have ever seen, video games and great beer ... what else could you ask for!!!

Came here once just for the video games. Just as well, because in my hour and a half I don't think I spoke to anyone who worked here.

The video games are worth a separate review, but they're the real draw.

Glancing up occasionally at the beer list it seemed great, lots of weird, offbeat choices. Too bad I never got the inclination to approach what seemed like chilly staff.

I'd go back here if I was with a group.

The selection is fantastic here. I never tried the cocktails or food (do they really serve food? Maybe, but I never noticed.) But the beers are great, for a decent price. And of course the retro games and atmosphere are fun. Just beware of how crowded it gets on weekends.

It's a bar that's also an arcade. Get it? What more is there to say?

Fine. I can say a bit more. They have good prices on great beer (most beers are $6, many beers have over 90 on Beer Advocate. They've even had Bourbon County Stout on draft a few times!). I believe happy hour runs 7 days a week. Happy hour means beers are $1 cheaper. Marble Madness is a really fun game but I don't really want to promote it because I like how no one's ever playing it when I go there. It's also impossible to beat by level 4. Anyway, this place gets super crowded pretty early on Friday and Saturday nights, but during the day and during the week, it's a great, spacious place to chill out.

I come here 9 out of 10 times I'm in Williamsburg. You should too.
