A-pours a very cloudy yellow color with an off white head with good retention
S-lots of citrus and a bit of spice, sweet malt in the background
T-more of the same with a much sweeter malt profile than I would expect. Citrus still comes through clearly with spice in the finish
M-light bodied with high carbonation
O-Not a bad beer, a bitter sweeter than I would expect but still highly drinkable

A bottle graciously given to me by some travelers. I poured this beer into a pint glass.

A fairly clear yellow gold body topped by a large white foam head. The head retention looks decent, and honestly the beer looks attractive, but it is completely off style. The Belgian Wit needs that characteristic white cloudiness from the huge amount of protein from the wheat malt, and since this beer has none of that, the score is dropped.

The aroma is a lightly sweet and fruity bouquet, with hints of sweet orange peel, kumquat, coriander, and chamomile. It's a robust aroma, and appetizing. This is a great smell that promises a flavorful, complex beer.

While the aroma is robust, the flavor here is a bit too weak, and possesses a tin-like finish. Up front and across the palate are flashes of orange, coriander, apricot, and chamomile. Not much wheat flavor, and in my opinion, this could use just a touch more body and sweetness to bring out those delicate flavors.

The carbonation is very good for the style, with a soft yet effervescent light body. It could use a creamier texture, like what a true wheat beer has...I'm not sure this is on par for the style either.

This is not a bad beer, but it is way of base for a Belgian Witbier. That's why it scores poorly. It's an attractive beer, with a wonderful aroma, and it drinks really well. I would drink it again if I saw it on draft, but I know that it needs some fine-tuning to hit the style benchmarks.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.5

Appearance: The beer had good carbonation and a finger sized head with good retention.

Aroma: Soft citrus notes and metallic taint.

Taste: This beer could use a better filtering process since the hazy cloudy appearance and mouth feel detract from the promising citrus and butterscotch flavors that reveal this beers potential for summer sessions.

From the bottle into a pint glass

A: Hazy straw yellow with a thin head that disappears almost as quickly as it appeared.

S: Subtle is the key word, subtle wheat, subtle citrus and subtle yeast.

T: Light sweet wheat with a touch of peaches hidden.

M: good carbonation fair mouth feel

O: I am not a witbier person by nature, but I decided to give this a try. I found Swallow Wit to be something one could enjoy on a hot summer's day, if that was the style of beer you liked. I do not, and I will probably choose one of Middle Ages other brews ahead of this.
