Yay, Red Racy is back, still in a CAN and now she has a first name! The last time I saw our full-bodied lass, she and her Schwinn Flyer were bringing me an IPA. Now, she has both a Lager and a Pale Ale, plus she has not given up on her skirt. I have convinced other women of the importance of stockings, a garter belt and a skirt as a result. Love craft beer in a CAN!
From the CAN: "Craft Brewed"; "Traditionally cloudy, this Belgium style White Ale is brewed with coriander seed and dried orange peel producing a beer light in body with a refreshing citrus-spice aroma."; "CANadian Brewing Awards Brewery of the Year 2010".
The Crack! was really loud and when I got some foaming through the vent, I went with an inverted Glug since it was meant to be cloudy anyway. I used one of my largest glasses & it was a good thing that I did! The head came roaring up at me like it was angry, forming four-plus (!) fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention. It looked like meringue atop lemon pie filling in the glass. Color was a very cloudy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose smelled of black pepper underlain by bubble gum. Mouthfeel was a little on the thin side, but not outright watery. The taste was pleasant enough, more like orange peel & lemon zest with a peppery spiciness than sweet bubble gum. Finish was semi-dry, refreshing and tasty. It would be good during the summer on a hot, humid day, but it just is not my cuppa tea in terms of style.

12oz can poured into a branded Ommegang witte glass.
A: Cloudy and dull straw color. Fine-bubbled white head sputters out after a few minutes. Sparse dots of lacing.
S: Oily orange peel up front, peppery coriander, dusty yeast, doughy and wheaty, perhaps a very faint herbal hop scent.
T: Oily orange with a mild citrus bitterness, dusty yeast flavors, peppery coriander, snappy wheat, dough. Yeasty finish.
M: Medium-light body. Malt firmness and a slight frothiness. Fine, sharp carbonation scrubs firmly.
O: Fairly decent wit. Hits all the marks, but still feels just a bit above average.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that died down, leaving only a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of lemon citrus are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of lemon peels. Only slight hints of wheat are noticeable.
M: It feels light-bodied (but not watery) on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink and has some refreshing properties, but seems to be a little one dimensional for a witbier and doesn't offer any flavors of coriander or similar types of spices as do most beers in the style.

a little overly yeasty on the belgian front in this one for me. it seems gimmicky and cheap, not patient and authentic as belgians go. more esters than other flavors or character, and the beer has a sweetness that makes it almost taste like a tripel at its core, but its also overdosed with coriander, so the whole thing seems overly stretched in a belgian direction, but maybe getting away from the wheelhouse a bit. its really really light beer, definitely not all wheat on the malt front, its too light for that. carbonation is awesome, really high and active which is critical for me in the style, but it has no body at all, and the lingering sugars hurt the overall mouthfeel experience. cant say i hate it though, just that one can is plenty as a session for me on this one. there are just too many other better belgian styles out there to spend much time with this one, although im glad to see these guys branching out a little. this one could use a few tweaks.

Pours a murky honey yellow with a foamy bone head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Tiny particles of sediment are seen floating around in the beer after the pour. Smell is of wheat, grain, citrus perfume, and slight spice aromas. Taste is much the same with wheat, citrus zest, and slight spice flavors on the finish. There is a very mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but has an interesting citrus perfume like aroma that is fairly potent.
