This full bodied Irish-style Stout is smooth, dark and creamy with pleasant notes of baked gingerbread on the nose and palate that will make this an instant holiday classic. The use of oatmeal and ginger in the mashtun adds silkiness to the texture and body of this ale. Hints of roasted barley, chocolate and crystal malts combine with a warm lingering finish of ginger and cinnamon that pleasantly round out one of our richest creations to date.

650ml bottle into snifter. produced sep 25 2015. consumed nov 21 2015
a: pours brown then develops into a near-black colour with light brown head. nice ruby glow at the bottom
s: good mix of sweet vanilla and milk chocolate, cinnamon, and gingerbread spice
t: like having a gingerbread cookie except in beer form. cocoa is present, the ginger flavour is stronger, and it's less sweet compared to the nose. roasty, very dry, black coffee-like finish
m: on the light side with medium-minus carbonation
o: great dessert-y beer, delivers on the gingerbread promise

A the darkest cola, massive three finger foam has great retention slowly falling to a table top island leaving a couple partial tings followed by random patches
S it is what it claims, smells like gingerbread but also has some cocoa powder, fennel, maybe some roasted yam, a little root beer, burnt toffee works well, lots of allspice, I'm liking it
T a little toned down but still solid, more chocolate notes and a little less spice, gingerbread is still hard to miss, again I like it but the nose has a little something extra
M a little light for the color, not quite creamy but the bubbles give it some life, slick inside and a little sticky on the lips, chocolate and gingerbread linger
O even on this hot day its going down with no problems at all, something different for sure and the strange concept worked out great
Pretty stoked to find this Canadian top 100 want just collecting dust on a shelf in Kelowna after I missed out buying it in Alberta. Some strange beer ideas fail miserably but this odd idea worked out well, I'll be looking for it when the snow starts flying again.

Pours a nice head, thin ring leaves a bit of lace. Subtle gingerbread aroma and flavour, dark caramel, balanced bitterness. I expected a bit more body.

650ml bottle.
Deep black with a light oatmeal head that dissipates rather quickly leaving moderate lacing. Smells of gingerbread, cake, cocoa and sugar. Mild coffee flavours with light enjoyable ginger and baking spice notes. Thinner than expected and more carbonated than I would like. Overall, one of the better Christmas oriented beers I have had this season.
