Had this one at the source during a friend’s bachelor party! Tick all day, every day! Served from tap into a sampler shaker. Poured red-orange with a half finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, caramel, caramel hop, and bread. The flavor was of sweet malt, caramel, bread, and caramel hop. It had a light feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was an average brew. I’m starting to think that the recipe for flavor and aroma on this style is added a little sweetness and add a caramel note. Since this one follows just that technique, I really can’t rate it any higher than an average brew for the style. I would have loved to see this one get more complex and wow me, but it just fell flat on its face as far as complexity. Worth ticking, but I wouldn’t have it again likely.

On-tap at the brewpub. A Vienna Lager as defined by the brewpub, in my opinion that fits the bill more than an Oktoberfest.

Pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a half-finger off-white head. The head recedes into a wispy layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of lightly toasted malts with good amounts of buttery diacetyl. Lurking in the background were light amounts of earthy hops.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Dark malt flavors with hints of toastiness kick things off before being joined shortly by good amounts of mild diacetyl flavors. Midway through the sip slight medium fruit flavors make an appearance before quickly fading out into light grassy flavors that carry through to a mildly bitter ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with decent carbonation.

Drinkability is OK. I finished my glass without a major problem however I'm not sure about another.

Appearance: Clear, reddish-amber body with a thin, white head.

Smell: Sweet-smelling, bready aroma with some mild, fleeting hints of caramel and fruit.

Taste: Sweetish, bready malt profile with a hint of caramel cubes. Minor fruitiness. Incredibly faint hop character with almost no imparted bitterness. Drying finish with a final impression of sweet breadiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Lightly carbonated.

Drinkability: First, the Gold was woefully undercarbonated, and now this. Again, a bump in effervescence would help this beer a great deal.

It pours a beautiful transparent reddish brown. Aroma is not strong but invitingly malty and spicy. Flavor is rich and malty, with hoppy hints and a touch of cinnamon. It goes down smoothly and with minimal bitterness. This is good either by itself or as an accompaniment to a good meal.

Floral hoppy aroma, spiciness in hops, and bitterness. Some malt complexity. Not bad as a vienna but not an outstanding beer. thinish body. Light copper colour with no head to speak of. A decent effort and just needs a bit extra something to make it a beer worth returning to.

Beer was served in standard pint. It is a nice coppery red and is slightly hazy. Nice head but hardly any lacing.

The beer smells of some citrus (grapefruit), biscuit, and some grain. Unfortunately there was a whiff of something that reminded me of an unclean tap line.

The taste was slightly sweet, but did have a bit of hop bite. The taste was also dogged by that unclean tap taste. I’m not sure if that was due to the tap lines or the recipe. Either way, it doesn’t not belong in a beer. Without it, this would have been an enjoyable Vienna Red.

Appearance – This was actually yellow in color with a tinge of orange and a decent head that left a little lacing.

Smell – This ale had a subtle but distinctive citrus hop aroma.

Taste – This had a good grain flavor, very sugary sweet, along with a nice, subdued citrus hop compliment.

Mouthfeel – This was light-bodied, well-balanced, and kind of dry.

Drinkability – This would make a good summer session ale and went great with my fried chicken.

There is very little head with a nice copper color. The aroma is slight caramel malt. The flavor is very low bitterness, soft, a little sweet but not too sweet. The Red is too bland to really excite but there are no real flaws and it is easily drinkable.
